Thread: Another template question (sorry)

Yeah, I know. Sorry. But I really can't decide.
Atm I'm MSL, MRifles and CM 4xxx. So far it's worked well, but the rifles specials are all (apart from one) damage specials, that can take alot of time. This causes me alot of aggro. Cover is good for pulling, but it's the only real thing I like about it.
I've found some really good Intimidators and E5s on sale (around 300 base DPS, 15k each) and I'm not worried about putting a pup on them if they are readily available. I am worried about putting a pup on my 349 base DPS (sliced) T21 though.
The way I see it is that pistols and carbines would be better for lower SAC costs for specials, and the specials would be more benificial in a group (states and crowd control) which is what I'm basing my template on.
Pistols have root, which is fantastic, and recon armour which comliments the assault armour from SL extremely well (I've got macros setup to switch so I can respond to any attack). I don't know much about the other specials. Range is pretty crap, but is the same range as CM bacta toss, so would work well there too. I've got both cyber arms to get the range up to 50m though, so it isn't that much of a problem.
Carbines have more crowd control, slightly more damage, and with the arms the same range as rifles. But I know abosultely nothing about the specials. It does, however, have battle armour - which doesn't compliment as well with the assault.
If the Dawnsorrow was crafted, I think I'd be fine - it's a sexy rifle. But the intimidator is sexier (especially if they ever bring in dual wield :-D)
So has anyone got any advise on SL/Pistols or SL/Carbines or how the compare to SL/Rifles?

Im geared towared PvE myself.. so I find my MSL/MRifle/Pistol 0004 is a good combo: root, kneecap, etc... I can group with another Master Rifle/Master Smuggler and between us can pretty much chain root/deal damage to just about anything.
