Thread: Looking for template advise

I've read through the template factory but could really use some additional advise.

Currently my template is SL+Pistoleer+CM 4-0-0-0. I serve the Squad Leader role in PvP and PvE and have really enjoyed everything that is SL. I only see things getting better with eventual improvements. My problem is, right now I see pistoleer kinda falling short and also lacking role definition. So what I'm pondering is ...

Would using my token respec to switch to either Carbineer or Rifleman be any better? As a pistoleer, I don't really do any significent damage. I can apply states, but there's really nothing unique that a Jedi or other ranged can't do as well.

Rifles can apparently do some really nice damage and would maybe fit my role well, because I stand at a distance, use my SL commands, and assist with damage. What about Carbineer? Can it deal out damage? Does it really serve the role of crowd control well?

Any advise or information would be appreciated. Hehe, I think this token respec is kinda burning a hole in my pocket. I think I'm useful to a group as SL, but pistoleer (as I've seen) really offers nothing.

/salute

Well, I'm a M.SL and M.Carbs with BH 0,0,0,4 thrown in. I'm using this as my FS XP grind, this way i can get 1.2 mill XP on pistols with M.SL, same on rifles with BH and same with Carbines on M.Carb.

I've got a nice ADK'd E5, and I can really lay down some damage while assisting others. Unfortunately, I'm also a tank with the amount of damage i can do (think base DPS is 350 ish on my E5)

I've dabbled with Pistoleer in the past, but not rifleman. So for me, I'd say, go M.SL, M.Carbs, that way, you can really do a fair amount of damage, get ready to double as a tank also.

I use leg shot, and charge shot (KD) alot, along with crippling shot?? (the snare that carbineers have) and thats mainly what I do besides the default attack.

You can get really good E5's if you keep your eyes open, and with the M.SL and M.Carb, you can still do reasonable damage with an initimidator Pistol also.

Just my random, totally unorganized thoughts, hope they help.

Well it seems in your situation since u like to stand back a bit I think rifleman would be a great choice. I like to be up close and in the action so I went with pistoleer. I also like to be close to group because im a novice doctor as well and i like to be able to heal people in need.

I did MSL/MSP and 0103CM works very good I have some very nice high DPS pistols and the paralize really works well with stopping shot to follow. I am still learning new things with the CU but I am liking the MSP with it. But I would think any range would do really well with SL.

Question... can the working SL skills be done while prone? Or even while under cover? I assume that volley fire etc would break cover but could you crawl up to scout over a hill so to speak while under cover and then use the command to launch an attack etc?

I'm MSL, MRifles, and CM 4xxx, and I just posted about dropping rifles!

Rifles are fantastic for damage, but cause alot of aggro because of that. The specials are all damage enhancing specials, which is fine, but they can take a long time to do, and the best ones have to be done prone.

Volley Fire is the only SL command you can use prone.

It looks like I might respec to carbs then, but I really want recon armour, not battle.

Try getting a good Intimidator Pistol. Due to the M SL requirment this is quite the good gun. I've one with 330 est dps which is quite good for a stating profession considering thats better dps than a powerhammer...
