Thread: So here I am... master marksman...
Hi folks.
I just finished mastering Marksman and I'm working on becoming a Squad Leader, but I need to figure out what to be as far as my second master class. I have heard pistoleer's rock, but I've never been much of a follower, and I honestly think pistols are a wee bit boring.
I was originally planning on going master Rifleman/master SL, but today I realized that... well... I kind of like running around during combat...
...so...
... I was thinking about climbing the Carbineer tree. However, I have been told by several people in-game that Carbineers suck, and that, when compared to a master Pistoleer or a master Rifleman, they always get owned because they don't really have any great abilities. Do Carbineers really suck... and, if so... which should I go; Pistoleer or Rifleman?
Thanks.
Lol... warning noted.
I'm not going to run away from SL. I see this class one day becoming the Shaman (EQ) of SWG. Yes, it is a broken class currently, but so are many, many other professions. I honestly still countthe SWG thatwe're playing now as a form of 'Beta'... a completed game wouldn't recieve weekly updates-- there would be one large patch we'd all have to pay 20 bucks for and SOE would be calling it an expansion if this was a completed 'basic' form of the game.
So anyway... six months from now, I think classes like SL and Commando and Chef and DE and all the others will be fixed... it'll just take some time. In the meantime, I'll just grind away at SL and wait for my ship to come in. When this class is awesome in 6 months or a year, I'll laugh at all those people who jumped on the current 'uber' classes, all of which will eventually be ballanced in some way or another.
I have faith that SOE will eventually... someday... get to us.
When it comes to class acceptance among the populus I see squad leader being similiar to what enchanters are in EQ. Good enchanters are very rare and initially no one understood what an enchanter could do since they didn't really shine until their skills were needed much later. I remember getting enchanters begging for a group and then they became part of the holy trinity of the group, warrior, cleric and enchanter, anything else is nice.
People point out that poor use of squad leader abilities will negatively affect us, they are correct. The number of people that choose this profession will be small compared to others like commando, bounty hunter or the marksman elite skills. Squad leader, like enchanter, will shine with good active skill set and after the poor ones have been culled out. When running larger encounters become normal.
