Okay I just now found out that there were new abilities coming for squadleaders and i think they are interesting and I like most of them, but Im not going to focus on that.

I was thinking about how the Galactic Civil War need a huge kick in the rear to get it started and to get people involved. I am a member of the Rebel Alliance and I have fought many great battles along side impressive squad leaders, I've even fought battles with a couple groups with good squad leaders, and that got me to thinking what if someone was in charge of it all?

Imagine a Master Squad Leader who is at the top of his/her faction ranking, how to you rally your faction to fight the oppressive Empire or the troublesome Rebels? Take charge you plan a raid, you assault a battlefield, but you can only do so much with a few people and one group. I was thinking of an elite proffession that would enhance on Squad Leader and each Faction. It would be some kind of Military posistion like a General or something - We'll use "General" as the generic term.

A General would combine a number of Groups or "Squads" into an "Army" so you can have up to 20 Squads under one command. Each Squad with its own SL giving bonuses and orders that are appropriate or passed down from the General. I havent given too much thought to the different teirs that would be available, but perhaps one tree could increase the number of groups that could join the army, one tree could be bonuses to all Squads on a battlefield, another tree giving commands that would let him/her give instructions to specific Squads, Squad Leaders or the whole Army. At the Master Level the General would be able to function as a Recruiter for his/her faction, recruiting new people, changing faction status (over/covert) and issueing faction perks.

I think a proffession like this could add a huge element of player interaction and strategy into the GCW story arc and make the game that much more imersive. But I wanted to get the feedback of other SLs out there and get more input to see if people would like to see this sort of thing happen. Please help me flesh this out.

Has potential, but I would think teamspeak might be necesary to keep 20 groups directed in batte. Maybe an onscreen drawing thing or something that would show the other SL who to attack...like a battle planing map or something. Good idea though.

Interesting idea, but with only 250 points to spend who could afford to Master an elite profession off of Squad Leader? Squad Leader itself has no real combat value. Spending another chunk of points to be able to direct a few squads doesn't seem productive.

Too tired to add anything but I like the idea.

Exactly, I was thinking the General could get an additional menu on his/her HUD that would resemble the radar, but show an entire battle field, with maybe large sqaures for the location of a squad or maybe color code each squad with a color of the Generals Choosing, So he/she can see the location of each squad and if he sees one falling apart he can send a message to the SL of that squad and find out why they are spread thin or whatnot.

The same goes with any of the other Elite-Elite Proffessions, Take the upcoming one Urban Planner for instance (I have a character on Bria that is going for this) Master Architect/Master Artisan/Master Urban Planner . . . Doesnt leave much roomfor shooting stuff But some people choose this lifestyle and still enjoy the game.

That also brings up the point, if you are spending so much time just being a leader how are you going to make money? If they implement Group Missions they could do something like have two payoff values. The Group bounty and the Leader Bounty. The more skilled of a leader you are the more the mission will payout for you, and your group. Make the group missions only accessible by a group leader and the higher the leader is in the SL and General skill tree the more it will pay out. Soa Master SL could get missions that would have two Pay values: The leader would get 2k on completion and the rest of the group would split 4k.

The problem with that is that the way SL XP is currently implemented, for an elite profession, you'd need Master SL, Explore IV, Survival IV, Ranged Weapon IV, Elite Prof Master, and have little to no weapon skill, which is REQUIRED to get SL XP.

20 squads.. * 20 members in a squad... = 400 people. 400 people on one side of a battle is more than the game can currently handle.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a WONDERFUL idea, but, until the game can draw-in past 70m, it's a bit infeasible to have a "nested squad leader", as it is...

But then, i'm a kill joy...
