Thread: Question: Forced March (proposal) VS. Mounts

Am I smoking the crack pipe, or will the benefits of a proposed Forced March become obsolete with the addition of mounts into the game?

Perhaps I'm not understanding this correctly - Mountsaregoing to be faster than walking/running from place to place, but probably significantly slower than Burst Run. I also feel led to believe that Forced March (or at least what has been explained)will attemptthe same thing. The only difference that I can forecast which may make Forced March of particular use then, would be how rough terrain equates into Mount speed.

What are your thoughts on that?

Well have several questions on that:

1. Will mounts be used in combat or will we be forced to dismount?

2. Will forced march work while the squad is in combat?

Depending upon what the answer is to these two questions will determine if forced march will be useless.

I would recommend that Forced March set the movement to that of the Squad Leader for EVERY member of the group. And included in that would be the SL's terrain bonus. Force march implies that you are moving faster than usual and since the SL must have the Terrain leg of Scout this should mean that groups lead by a SL would outpace those not and that is the kind of thing that SL should bring to group.

I am not sure if this should be available to Novice SL but it should definately go in the Mobility branch at a low level.

Everyone can already go about as fast as the squad leader with the terrain negotiation... Forced march should make everyone able to a speed in between regular running and burst run for an unlimited amount of time honestly...
