Hello:

I am a rifleman/swordsman/squad leader, and as I approach master in one of these three, one of the others obviously has to go. I have been hanging on to squad leader in the hopes that something -- anything -- positive might arise to make the profession worthwhile. I mostly solo, but my guild has once a week big game hunts (and occasionally participates in pvp), so I've been hanging on to squad leader in the hopes that either as I progress, or as some changes are made, there will be some tangible benefit to the group. As it is, I use /sys, but since most of my guild is on teamspeak, it is only marginally useful. Rally produces no discernible benefit. The mobility tree is appreciated, but not enough for me to miss out on the ability to master either rifleman or swordsman for (I obviously don't have enough skill points to master any one of my three professions if I keep all three to any degree).

I really don't want to give up squad leader, as I love the concept. But I'm searching for some relevance or benefit to justify my keeping the class (and no, I haven't just started, I've been a SL for almost two months, and have 3131).

One possible real benefit is the ranged and melee defensive bonuses, but I can't get any real verification that these actually work. Can anyone shed any light on this or any reason I should not sadly and reluctantly back down my SL trees to get master in another profession?

The rumor is that the SL ranged defense bonus works when grouped.

Other than that rumor?No.
