Hello Leaders,

I ah...apologize for my previous two posts, was not anticipating that TAB would bring me down to "Submit Post".... That said, I would to solicit your experience to help me join your ranks a bit more swiftly.

I have been struggling for the past few days to complete my needed skills for Squad Leader. I still have to complete my Ranged Combat 4 box (half way now), and my Wilderness Survival 3 & 4 boxes (2/3's in 3, none in 4).

I would like to know in what ways I can more swiftly gain XP in these two areas. Also, if it can't be very quick, at least be fun. I am somewhat at a loss on how to make camping fun by myself, I am also reluctant to just burn time sitting in camp doing nothing to gain what little XP I can.

Of note, I am doing SL purely for Role Play- Fun purposes. Ever since I saw that the game had SL in it, I wanted to master that profession. I am not a holo grinder, and have no desire to become one. Also of note I have gone the rifle path as my specialty and am halfway to Novice Rifleman.

Any Tips, Advice, etc you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Camping/ Survival xp is easy. Grind some camps out. Place camp. Invite friends family etc. to come for a party at said camp. Grind more camps while at party. Cycle camps. It only took me 3 days to grind out the wholel ine. With one other person sitting in camp with me.

If you really want to get xp have a commando or maybe better a combat medic posion and disease a friend and let them nearly black bar. Move them into the camp and let their wounds heal. Increases your xp. Or you can always hold a fight in the middle of no where and have people heal in your camps when finished dueling.

There is a formula for camping, check it out.

1 person for 12 minutes

3 people for 6 minutes

6 people for 3 minutes

12 people for 1 minute

This should give you max Exp for each camp.

Have fun

For camping xp, I got all I needed doing the following. Go someplace that's usually crowded (I used fort tusken, and the force caves on Dantooine). Bring a Doctor with you (bribe him if you have to it's worth it). Then pitch your camp and have the Doctor heal/buff players/groups going by. This also works after you get SL. You can offer to group with people who don't have a SL. This grants them you group bonuses and you SL xp. Hope that helps.

If you get tired of camping and need a bit of relaxation. Put up a camp near the water. If you place it very close to the waters edge you sometimes get "lucky" and you camp sits IN the water. When this happens pull out your fishing rod and start fishing. Every fish you catch will get you survival xp and at the same time you are sitting in your camp earning survival xp. Quite neat

/agree with Erryk

If you have a goodmacro for crafting camps (all you need is two weapon/generic items crafting tools for this macro) this will be done in no time. Lets just count on the two last boxes, thats 30k xp needed there. Ok, lets go.

My macro makes one camp in tops 6 seconds. This makes 10 camps per minute, and each crafted camp gives 30 xp, thats 300 wilderness survival xp per minute (same as 12 people in one camp, yes, but you dont actually need 12 people for this... or a camp.).

Okay, 300 xp per minute, lets do some serious counting.

30000/300 = 100

You need 100 minutes to finish the last two skillboxes of wilderness survival...

oh,and 5000 bone, 10000 hide and less or more patience (if you have had a crafting prof before, the 1h 40min grind is nothing, but if you arent used to grinding, you will get bored and might not be able to do it more than 10 mins at a time. A tip is to use a stopwatch and make sure you do 10 minutes, because I promise you, 10 mins while grinding feel like 30 mins while hunting.

Not sure if you know of macros etc etc, but check the ranger and/or scout forums, iirc they have threads about it.

Thanks all for the tips.

Just completed my last two boxes of Survival XP last night...was quite happy. I used everyone's suggestions, and overall, the grinding wasn't too bad. I didn't make a macro, but I got pretty good at my key taps.

I put my two crafting devices in the F1 and F2 slots... F1,Enter, Double Mouse Click, Double Mouse Click, Enter, Enter, Enter-Enter-Enter(quick). Doing all this while sitting in a camp.

Now, just to finish off the Combat XP and this fourm will have another full fledged SL to add to its ranks!
