Thread: Pro and Counters to be a squad leader
CouldU guys tell me advatages and weaknes to be a squad leader?
I mean a squad leader can do thi this and this, BUT doind this he left to gain this this and this
I am asking this because I am thinking in being a Carbineer/Squad Leader.

Con: Getting bitched at because "this trip sucks" or "I'm not getting **edit** for xp".
Pro: Getting to bitch right back.
Pro: You can make a message appear in the middle of the screen.
Con: Mastering the Profession (with pre-requisites) costs 135 skill points.
Pro: You can make the entire group run faster.
Con: None of your passive bonuses work.
Pro: You can do that think with the screen message as often as you want.
Con: Most of your main skills don't work, cost 200 mind, and fail more than half the time.
Pro: Sometimes it's fun to send a message that says "You have unlocked your Force Sensative character slot!" and watch the new players get all excited.
Con: In order to earn Squad Leader XP, you must be a group leader and you must deal damage.
Pro: You can make "Squad Leader" hover over your head.
Con: The proposed improvements to Squad Leader have met with almost universal rejection from Squad Leaders and non Squad Leaders alike.
Pro: Did I mention the system message thing?
Con: Squad Leader offers the worst skill point to advantage ratio in the game.
Pro: System message! Wooooooo! /sys Squad Leader rules!
Con: You become jaded, and start posting things like this, even though you really do love the Profession and wish it were useful.
So, yeah, that's Squad Leader.
Wow, I MUST be a Masochist after all.
I honestly came really close to surrendering my skill points last night and switching to ranger. Part of that had to do with the current uselessness of the profession but part of it was because of the expectations people put on your title. You're often the first person people blame if they're not having fun in your group.
The best advice I heard though when I was thinking of becoming a squad leader and asked another SL's opinion of it, she said "I hope you like typing." So, if you like typing...squad leader is the profession for you.
