Squad Leader Archive
Thread: Poll: Balancing
- You have to be an active Squad Leader in-game (i.e., your main character is a Squad Leader).
- No arguments, no debate. A simple yes or no will serve as your answer.
- Only one vote per forum account, even if you have multiple SL characters.
These rules are indeed hard if not impossible to enforce, so Imust also rely on your personal honor and discipline.
Now for the question:
Do you think the developers will grant a Profession a copycat ability from an already existing Profession (CH, although in "new clothes") without considering them in the overall balancing process, thereby taking away other possible abilities that could be used to enhance group leading abilities?
Please cast your vote below.
Thanx,
Dogg
P.S.: For more clarification: The question is about wether you think that the development team will consider NPCs wortheless or not, thereby calculating them as a a "benefit", requiring 2 full columns of the SL tree.

Hehe, not sure I like the question. A bit complex and opinionated already but I guess my answer is:
No.
Sorry, i guess i need to clarify the reason for the question:
The answers serve me as a link to the other 2 polls. The votes on this poll alone have no substantial value. They only serve to bring the other 2 polls in relation with each other.
I would not, neither did i intend to, use the answers on this poll to form an argument or to enhance an argument.
It is of purely informational value to me.

There can't be a "Sound" answer for this poll or the other polls asked. You are asking a question that is cleary skewed to one agenda. You can take all of the yes or no answers and make them work to any way you want (Not you personally, dogg, but any poll is like that). I can honestly tell you that the ratio of men to women in my office at this very moment is 100%:0%. You need to really give a down the middle question to effectively get the communities response. I am not picking on you I am just curious to see what you are aiming for because I might even be with you on this.
Looks like this poll will be come a normal discussion instead ![]()
Maybe my fault.
The reason i post those polls, i to get a more clear statement.
Very often (especially by me) sentences like "the majority of squad leaders..." is used. Especially when it comes to NPCs. So i wanted to know wether my conception is along the truth.
Is the majority of Squad Leaders really against NPC handling?
Is it not?
I know my personal answer already, but i may be wrong.
These polls in itself are in no way an argument for or against anything. They are personal opinions. Opinions are no arguments, though.
by combining these polls, though, you can see the stance of each person, though. You can start an intervall analysis, narrowing to theirstances and reasons for their stances.
It is a lot more objective, than simply writing ones stance. Wording, fluency and oratory play a large role in that. If you strip it down to a preconstructed yes or no answer, it is a lot more solid in its very essence.
After analyzing those answers, you will get a draft schematic of the general stance and the reasons for that decision.
Having this as a backup, we can start to accomodate our wisches and hopes for this profession to a tool, that will excite the majority and even please, if not incite the minority.
I spend way too few time in SWG anymore to have peoples opinions in game affect me anymore.
But i simply get angry if people want it "their way" that are not even Squad leaders. They have not stood bythe profession through thick or thin. They did not endure all the harhip with the vision of the almost prophetic revamp.
They just see the revamp as an opportunity to "get what they want".
In my personal opinion, the NPC-Issue is just a clearly visible emmanation of this attitude.
How many of the "old" Squad leaders really want it?
How many of the non-SLs just want to have more faction pets and are willing to spend skillpoints on it, if they get their way?
This mass of NPC-fans, justified or not, is a dire theat to this profession and its memmbers. This posse is destructive in nature, subversive and dangerous.
Once they lost interest again, they will just drop the skills again, leaving the "true" SLs at heart with a yet again broken and useless profession.
This behaviour is rightout vicious!
This is why i want to get a grasp of the overall stance and opinion in this very particular issue.
