By "this" do you mean Squad Leader? Check out the FAQ sticky -- I think it has everything you need to know about helping out in combat.

But short answer is yes, it does, as long as you know how to use it.

so if i am a master squad leader, when i am fighting solo, does this profession help me?

It's meant for group combat, not solo combat. If you're not in a group at all, you won't be able to use any of your skills. You could always group with your pet, but the commands won't really be useful to you, only some of the bonuses. If you don't plan on leading groups, then squad leader is probably not the profession for you.

squad is the last thing that would logically help you solo and the fact that it is pretty broken doesnt help that either. Go for two combat professions or something if you are big into soloing, pick a melee and ranged and your mitigation is set as well as everything else
