The use of multiple SLs can throw a groups power way over the top, most specificly if most of those SLs are just dabblers.
I think a good plan for multi-SL control would be to create a line of SLs.
This is similar toa the group leader passing down the commands through his seargent while the seargent also has the control over the group to issue orders of his own.
I would see it sensable to:
first. Restrict the number of skills a 2nd SL can use then reduce it even greater for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. Specific skills like Retreat should only be allowed to the top SL.
second. The skills become less powerful as you go through the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc SL to reflect the idea that they are commanding less people and their orders have less validity than the head SL.
It might be difficult to work out a system for putting one SL in charge etc but my thoughts are:
The Group Leader picks the Top SL, if an SL is the group leader he becomes the Top SL automaticly. After that use a simple menue with a list of all group members with SL skills in it and you can use a push selected name down, or push selected name up command to move them up and down through the ranks.
Also this menue could alllow you to revoke someone's SL powers if you're the top SL. This way if someone is misusing their powers or just being annoying you can completely stop their powers from having effects on the group.
Just a few ideas, I'm fairly certain it won't change anything, but what do ya'll think?

I can hear the fighting now about who wants to be in charge. Either way it wasnt a good idea to allow 8 SLs in a group, I can deal with 2, but 8, no way.

yeah, I can't imagine seeing the system messages if you get 8 SLs in a group.
Would be nice to limit that to one or two lead SLs.

It is still limited to 1. A Squad Leader who it Group Leader. You can't use the Ability unless you are group leader, no matter how many SLs are the group.
Tested and Confirmed.

That's some more good news.
First of course is the SL revamp. Though there are things that I am not sure about, but this is at least something that was a concern.

First good news I hear from TC
now lets get rid of the multi SL in one group over stacking their buffs with members not groped anymore
as well reduce the duration of all buffs to 30 second to 5 minutes depending on the type
about the mutliple squad leaders in one group and having the squad leader needing to be groupleader, it seems like there is still discussion open although it looks like 2/3 are against multiple squadleader (more than 2) while 1/3 likes the idea (although a lot non active SL are among them)

Actually i "feel" like many of thosewho want the "anybody can give commands" stuff to work come from outside of the profession and are mostly hoping to find something new to dabble in to get some advantage for themselves. Unfortunately the new buffs, from all info i have by now, work in a way to make exactly this approach the worst of all.

Edit: I also want to comment on this part...

I disagree on this... i personally would like to keep the long duration times. If buffs break get disabled when the teammember is away too far from the leader, when buffs are removed when leaving the group, the buffs are fine with me if they last for 20 minutes. It saves the SL from the permanent struggle to see if the buff is still active or if he has to apply it again. (If you are in general fighting, apply the higher defence or lower cooldown buff, you can't do wrong with those. As soon as the situation requires it, you quickly apply another buff and when the requirement is over, you switch back to the first. (Yes, in theory you could keep your team in retreat for 30 minutes this way... but, honestly, if you do that, your group will kill you the very moment their action and mind start to regenerate again... *grin* And anyways, the movement buffs have the comment that they are short time already, so this won't happen...)
Part of my reasoning is simply, 10 group buffs, 4 individual buffs, 5 abilities, i can't keep all of that on my primary tab. Currently i have all things which i apply on short time on my first tab and everything which i use occasionally but lasts for a while (food, etc.) on my second tab. If the SL-buffs go to a third tab, with only the movement and defence buffs staying at first tab. (I really would love to be able to have 48 instead of 24 icons on the screen... *grin*)
I know that this is selfish thinking, but i have to keep my efficiency up, and if i can care for other things than only watching the buffs and reapplying them all the time, i think i am really doing better.

Good point there Sylow. Will take that into consideration.

Tool bar concerns can easily be addressed by creating a macros that can shuffle between the toolbar sets. Just set up a tool bar that has your main attacks with some abilities and then put the rest in the other tool set. Sure its going to keep you on your toes more but thats what we wanted in the first place. Being a good SL requires a lot of work.
