I know that this temp wouldnt be great combat wise but as a support role for high end grps..would it be viable? My guild does a lot of high end dungeons and loot runs..helping guildies get jet packs etc..and healers are always in demand..and i thought adding SL into one would be the ultimate support

As long as you can stand being only support and no firepower, this combination is very welcome on the team. You'll have your teammates targeted almost all of the time and just are healing and coordinating. (If you follow the approach with the targeter being somebody else but you, which is very adviseable when you do your medic work, you'll also fire your volledfire through the targeter to give the damage boost on the currently focused target.)

With the MCM you'll even have some offensive power, though being a bit more tricky to use than a regular weapons profession. Still, while being a massive powerup for any team, you'll find yourself in trouble easily when being without team. (And, this will happen... and if it's only because something sent you to the cloner and you have to catch up with your team again...) If you can handle that, this combination will make a great team-player.

Well, it's my temp and i have a lot of fun with it. Dungeon wise, when i'm down in the Death Watch Bunker, thyroid rupture is a godsent, paralyse is great for when you get swarmed by SBDs, and you can rez too. DidI mention you can resuscitate incapped players? I did ajet packrun the other day in little over an hour. CM is a great template to pair with SL forplaying a good support role. Oh yeah, the Alliance disruptor looks cool too.

Wow Inenout you are a MSL/MCM? That's great! I've seen you around

My only problem with being a pure support, is that it is pure support. I too frequently am alone or among newbies, I need to be sure I can handle myself. Otherwise, I would think those are very ideal. It takes away having to direct a CM in your group to certain targets, and that can be a lot. *cheers*

Well i'm currently dabbling in pistoleer. I have x3x1, I choose to go for the extra accuracy instead of improved stopping shot and I have SEAs to make up for the speed and a very nice pistol as well. I have also tried dabbling in carbineer, rifleman, and BH. You can get some good specials with carbineer like charge shot and leg shot, good defenses with moderate accuracy and speed andgood specials with BH, and a lot of accuracy and high-damage specials with the first tree ofRifleman. What i didn't like about rifleman was that I only found the first tree useful with headshot and sniper shot usefull for most situations, but basically just go out and try it for yourself. Since your only dabbling in these professions it doesnt take too long to grind them up.

Personally, with only 37sp remaining, I would have to say take some defense. Pistols 0004, gives you improved stopping shot and melee and ranged defense. Using stopping shot and then some heals would help out quite a bit in healing and reviving companions.

I use MCM/MSL as my template, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

The only problem I find is that zipping around throwing CM debuffs at mobs is very good for crowd control, but plays havoc with pass-through assist targeting - so there's a clash there between the useful CM skills and the useful SL skills. Still, the squad can usually be educated to stick to the VolleyFire target while you run round throwing the debuffs.

Be prepared with this template to do pretty low damage yourself - you're very much a support template, keeping the group as a whole focussed and out of trouble, occasionally getting in default attacks (you have no weapon specials beyond the standard ranged shot) when you're not firing CM or SL specials. Also carry lots of mind food, and don't worry about action costs.

As to what to use the remaining SPs on - if you're a support CM, then you'll almost certainly want to take Medic xx4x, to pick up the DragIncap skill - very useful for getting dead teammates into a safe place to rez them. I haven't quite decided what to use my other SPs on (been playing around with the Mos Eisley noob quests recently ) - there's not really enough after DragIncap to be able to get much beyond Novice Pistoleer. Perhaps Novice Doc would be useful to get more healing options, and limited wound healing.

You might also want to consider building in one of the less popular base-busting professions - I think you may just have enough SPs left for Novice BE, which along with SL is one of the harder profs to find for a raid.

I'm doing this at the moment and due to the need for pistol XP have picked up novice pistoleer, I was thinking of picking up 0004 in that for the stopping shot, although 4000 would give Improved Body Shot and better pistol speed, and with a decent pistol should allow a decent enough amount of damage. then picking up 1004 in Scout to allow me to run around a little faster on the hills etc

but I might just ditch the pistoleer and grab XX4X in medic and 4XXX in scout so I can peg it about and heal people etc

Um...if you really want to be support...why not put them in doc? 14+14+6=34. At least u get the extra med eff to make your heals stronger

i was mcm with msl for a long while and loved it. it is deffinately an advantage offensively and deffensively especially in smaller groups. very hard to regulate the ham bar though. within the last two months i switched mcm to mdoc and kept novice cm. i'm way tougher now and more of an asset to my group but i miss the states in or ie offense -the fire and poison ticks combined with a good probotreally helped out my lack of damage by having no marksman skills to speak of. all will change with pub 24 though. they are already saying a combat proff is recommended and with all of the new sl moves there might not be enough pool points to affectively be a sl/healer. haven't got to test in on tc yet though i'm only msl with some medic on there.

I'm grinding this temp at the moment. I think I will add Pistoleer 0031 to that, for some extra support abilities : intimidate shot and stopping shot. I know these won't be the improved version and will be less effective, but these were the best abilities I found in the pistoleer tree to complete my full support temp.

I don't really think pistoleer has some real firepower (I would take rifle for that), so I prefer taking the support abilities than body shot, cause I'll definitely will never be a damage dealer. My 2 cents
