Just a thought, how about allowing a group to use a form of the cover skill when under the command of a SL? like, you shout, TAKE COVER! and everyone subsequently takes cover, a novel idea, I do find it hard to imagine that the only people ever trained to get behind a rock were rifleman.

A fantastic idea, RogueArcher. This would be a great skill to come alongside the Squad Leader fortifications proposal. A /takecover command would instruct and enable the team to use the current terrain (rocks, trees, etc.) to their advantage...but what do you do if you're in the middle of the dune sea? Place a fortification so that there IS a terrain feature to hide behind!

Just out of curiosity, how of the people out there actually use the battlefields?
