Thread: tell me how to master this profession quick so i can leave you all in peace
Goto Corellia and Lead a Sarnaff group for 10 hours and you will be a master .... long as you can get the APP.... which seems to be getting harder and harder to get for me ![]()
Heres is what I did:
1. Get a good group. (A couple melee, a couple good blaster jockies, and some good healers minimum. throw in some other classes for fun, a couple of pets, and you have a great group.)
2. Go to the Trade Outpost on Dathomir.
3. Go to the Nightsister (or is it the singing mtn. clan, not sure, but think Nightsister) HQ.
3. Go inside the H.Q. and get to the room with a Nightsister named Nideera. Kill the baby rancors that follow you in from the room just before the one you are now in.
4. Pull non-stop from the room with the baby rancors. (They spawn about as fast as you kill them)
5. Rest, rinse, repeat step 4.
I make 900k in about an hour and a half there. Got Master SL in three lazy days (ie. I took my time and didnt run out and train immediately after maxxing xp each time.)
Beg, pay and whine for people to let them train you in whatever skills you have in order to get the Apprentice XP.
Congrats, you are a Master SL. So far, it has actually been the most enjoyable proffession I have tried yet. If they would tweak it a bit, fix a bug or two, I think I may go back to it once my FSCS is opened. Really.
Is there an approved secondary profession to work towards while doing SL?
From what I've gathered on these boards, your advancement simply requires you to be the leader of the group and you get xp based on number in the group and combat xp earned.
Do SL's generally hang back and command the battle? or stand in the front leading the charge?
Do you even participate or just hang 80m from the battle sitting in a camp healing/entertaining the wounded?
I'm a former entertainer, who used to run a camp and play my slitherhorn while the group fought on. It was convenient for the group, having someone to heal mind after every fight. But rather dull for me.
I much prefer being in the fight. I picked up a ranged profession (Pistoleer) and spam my Stopping Shot like the rest of the group. I do stop to cure stun/dizzy (formup) and issue orders (/sysgroup), but I like to partake in the fight.
Honestly, if you're just HoloCronn'ing it, you don't have to do anything but /follow one of the combat monkeys and go afk. Maybe make a nice macro to /rally ever 2 minutes or so, mixed up with some /formup's. It's a disservice to your group and the SL community as a whole, but it does work.
As someone who mastered this profession in 2 days for the nerdocrons, Ive gotta say that anyone who pulls this profession as a requirement is as lucky as can be. The hard part is finding anyone who wants to group (Im a Euro so my playtime isnt when the most players are on and ready to go hunting) but once you do that its amazing watching how quick you go through it. When I had a 18-20 person group on Dath I was grabbing 30k per Rancor and around 40k per Lair.
Only reason I didnt enjoy it so much is because I didnt have any combat profession to work towards. I was already TKM and didnt want to drop it if I didnt need to so was wasting all the extra xp I was getting.
Great profession for the hologrinders. Why the rest of you guys keep it I dont know, although I did love the Terrain Neg ![]()
all these ideas are great, however, the absolute fastest way to master squad leader is as follows:
(i just did it today for my holo)
Pay a Master SL to come to the Tusken Fort w/you...
Stand outside Fort, and group everyone who enters....
Sit and collect XP
Have Master SL train
Master SL 4.5 hours
Done....
BTW I really enjoyed this profession, I just wish there was more to it to make it more effective. If SOE could just make it mor useful, it would be a great skill to keep(this coming from an extreme soloer btw)
Take Care all
I went to fort tusken and grouped between 10-15 people. I mastered SL in about 10 hours over 2 days.I only had to stop long enough to go train skills. Usually several skills at a time.I also saw another player master it in the same length of time today. A large group will guarantee a master title the fastest.

No matter where you go, remember that distance is very important.
If your rifle has an optimum distance of 60m and you regularly shoot at 30m, you will not get as much XP as you expect. Regularly check the combat tab, to make sure you are getting the hits that you want, and if not, move....
