Squad Leader Archive

I've been a Master Squad Leader for some time. I'm curious though. Do we get our melee defense and ranged defense bonuses if we are the leader of any group? Specifically, if I group my horned krevol with me, do we now both get +30 to melee and ranged defense? Or are PCs required in the group in order to aquire defense bonuses?

I think both of you get the +30 ranged and melee defensee, at least it´s what happens with the Terrain Negotiation bonus (+60 i think). I tried it with my kaadu.
