Heya folks,

I just recently leveled Marksman & Scout, and now I'm trying to get apprentice XP to master both professions & become a Bounty Hunter. I noticed that I automatically qualify for Squad Leader, and I thought that this would be a good profession to take.

I've heard a lot of things about SL on this forum, and it seems like some people like it, and some people really, REALLY hate it. I just wanted to know what the best & worst things about SL are. Is there anything fun about the profession? Is it useful? What will I like/hate about the profession?

Thanks.

Being the leader of a squad is tremendous fun. Of course, you don't need to have the Squad Leader skill to do such, but having the title of Novice (or better) Squad Leader usually gains you instant respect and command. However, none of the Squad Leader skills make a difference in the effectiveness of your squad. The Squad Leader profession offers no substantial benefits to a squad.

If you are going for Bounty Hunter, you might find that it is a lonely profession. Doing Squal Leading on the side is a GREAT way I think to break the monotomy of the BH prof. It might just help you master BH faster in a way because you will not be as likely to learn to hate BH. I have seen the bounty hunter-only types and some of them just burn out because it is a very hard and time consuming route. With Squad Leader on the other hand, the exp points flow like water and it will give you a sense that you are progressing...

I don't know, just my views

I personally love the squad leader profession and I believe the (hopeful) upcoming changes will make it even better. The leadership aspect is great fun, and I do believe that the current specials do benefit the group greatly if used in the proper circumstances. I know I've been loved for having a few of the specials that really help the group out in tight spots. Plus, we're a rare commodity, so people jump at the chance to have you in their group. I sincerely enjoy the profession and look forward to the upcoming benefits we will hopefully be recieving.

To summarize my contemporaries' thoughts...

Good: You get to lead people, and you gain respect and a sense of elete rairness.

Bad: The most usefull skill is in the novice box, and even that can be suplamented by group chat.

Ugly: We have been passed over like hebrews durring the tenth plague so many times it makes my head spin. Fortunetly, we may see some good things by Febuary *cough*may*cough*.

I was master Squad leader and the only skill i found usefull was the /sysgroup realy nice to call out targets with. so master Squad leader is not realy good for anything except some some defense mods to your group. if they work as i had my dobuts on

Iwas Master Squad Leader as a holo proffesion, and the almost none of the abilities seemed to work. Volley didnt work, steadyaim didnt work.. and of course none of the group defenses worked either. And as for the system message.. ppl find it very annoying, if they even notice it. Most of the time they are already gettin messages on their screen, they dont even noticed ur message <since it is in teh same color> And, i also noticed that sometimes it cuts teh first word u say out of System message so u gotta retype it so they know what ur tryin to say lol.

The only command that i actually think is f.uckin awesome is the one that distributes everyone's wounds <can't remember the name of it>. Most of my guild that i got SL xp wth was TKM.. so when one person was diseased or whatnot, and had no meds.. id distribute teh wounds even to every member of the group, I + all the other TKM would meditate our wounds off, and redistribute until they were almost all gone.

well, theres my 2 cents on SL. if it ever is fully functionable im sure it will rock <i hope>
