Alright, new concerns as I look at this based on not being leader. If these buffs are balanced against 2 or 3 being active, I fear we'll see 8-man teams where each man has a line of SL: effectively, the group will have 8 of the 10 group buffs and everyone will have 1 of the 2 non-aggro buffs, very unbalancing. If the buffs are balanced against having 8 at once, they'll be really weak and we'll be back in square one.

Idea: Leader has to be SL. At novice SL, you can have one assist SL, allowing the group to have 2 buffs at once. A MSL can have 2 assistants. I'm still partial to MSL getting 2 group buffs active, but then you're up to 4 buffs which could be too many at once.

I agree with the need to monitor how people use these skills. Despite the devs best intentions a small number of players always seem to be able to twist good things to their own advantage, thus forcing a nerf on the good things...

Yeah, I've already chatted with Loki and KJFett3 about this we're basically under the same banner on that one and I think all of us are at least concerned with FOTM Templates with this one, though I am happy to see some attention, I think it's a little TO much attention.

Congrats loud squad leaders everywhere. Noone deserves arevamp more than you guys.

Best part is that fixing squad leader will help fix the game for a lot of other professions too.

Keep up the good work!

Hopefully they go over it quite a few more times before putting it out there. I'm glad they put in the work for us finnaly but like some of the others I'm very worried. This very well could end up being overrun by dabblers and the real group leading squad leaders won't find much work. "buffbot SL" is the key word there and it might squeeze out real SL's, and in the GCW pvp that could realy ruin alot of the leadership and orginization overall.

I'm Also glad that the majority of SL's so far arent jumping the gun and are being cautious about this, not being the type to take candy from strangers. You all keept clear heads this whole time and if ever any company wanted player feedback this was the place, and now it's takeing shape and hopefully it carries over into smoothing out these changes and keeping it realistic before it goes live.

This is something I think we all deserve and have waited for for a long long time... As a veteran SL i have to at least test these changes out. I'm hoping they make it so you still need at least one SL to be a leader cause I do agree with the balancing issues that could occur.

Glad to see group waypoints made it in, charge, form up and boost morale changed and the critical hit chance. Looks like the devs do look over us from time to time.

We still need to create platoons though...

After cheering for 20 minutes straight (at this time, hope no neighbour kills me tomorrow) i found this sidenotes. And i admit, you have some point there. Though, my suggestion would not be to limit it to two buffs only. Rather i would say the buff of a non-teamleader SL is rather weak, a small bonus, but not utterly powerful. On the opposite, the buff supplied by the actual group leader should work to full effect and give the complete bonus.

This would make the leader position still matter for the SL profession while at the same time allowing second SLs in the group to still be useful. At the same time, it should fix the issue that buffs have to be tuned down to have an 8 man team still balanced.

Otherwhise... the only thing i will miss dearly compared to the current situation is group terrain negotiation... i still hope that they keep this passive modifier. (Of all passives, it turned out to be the most vaulable in my eyes...)

Very nice stuff indeed! When i saw it in the testing forums my jaw hit the floor. I was stunned. Although i have to admit i thought the smugglers would get some love first, but there time is bound to come soon. I can't wait to see what this is like, exciting stuff, exciting times.

EDIT: I just thought , you might want to edit the title of this thread to PRE-Pub 24 as this isn't actually publish 24 i don't think

Let me start by first off saying that I am a smuggler/SL RIGHT NOW, and have been for the last 6 months. So I have an interesting perspective on the changes as well as the discusion.

Secondly, let me congratulate all the long time squad leaders who have been playing it from the start, just as I have smuggler. You have stuck it out and have been rewarded.

I have to say I am so happy right now I actually drew a few tears. I'm serious. Does anyone understand what this change means to the game? Squad leaders are on of the LEAST played proffesions and they are getting (practicaly) a full revamp. If trends continue, it will be the best thing for this game in a long time, instead of how they have been, with jedi getting most of the fixes/revamps/upgrades (you notice in the astromech stats they broke up all the different masters, but jedi on the whole is most likly the most played proffesion)

Secondly, I play a squad leader, so I am happy for myself as well as my guild. We have a lot of good times ahead of us taking on things never before considered. DWB anyone?

And lastly, but certainly not least, this give smugglers the hope we have content comming and WILL be fixed sometime.
