Thread: Why Squad Leader is the perfect choice for Healing Mind
I think that mind damage should be heal by squad leader!!! but not as healer do...Mind should never be heal like healer...
This is my idea .. give a branch of mind boost to the squad leader!! like this exemple..
1- Can heal incapacitated caracter from mind damage(make sence... like a hockey coatch that is on the ice for is best player have been wound...)
2- Give a positive bleed effect for mind
3- give a one boost healing for the group(at several cost or a timer of 1 hour)
4- buff mind like doctor do for other stats
Squad leader should never heal wound mind or battle fatigue... this is not our job!!!
This is just a main idea... I also think that healing should have a delay before applying the bandage and not after and more delay when you heal yourself...(like Ultima Online, make sence quite harder to heal yourself) it should give more competition between player in PvP and give more use to all kind of damage.. and it will give more job for the healer!!!
other think is that incapacitated caracter should not raise as fast when he is heal... give then a knockdown effect or something similar...incapacitated is suppose to be near death!!!
And at last for mind healing... I think every player should have the ability to meditate...everyone in real life is able to clear is mind...why not in star-wars...That should black-out the screen and raise the mind healing(only normal damage ...not wound) a little like a mage in everquest that meditated!!!
veryvery good point Darth_Sushi, you have changed my mind on the subject

the mind healing topic: I don't think that Squad Leaders, Doctors or Combat Medics should be able to heal Mind damage in the field. That stuff should wait until you are camped, and should remain the domain of Entertainers. If you want a Mind buff, go see a Bartenderbefore you go into combat.
I do, however, believe very strongly that while Squad Leaders should not be able to HEAL Mind damage while in the field, they should have a "group Mind damage resist" skill (improving with higher levels of experience) that provides an ENORMOUS buff to Focus and Willpower, so that their squadmate's Mind pools bleed much slower and regen much faster while grouped. And itwould only work if the Squad Leader is actually the group leader. This, to me, would be the perfect solution -- as it preserves the distinct roles of each class and is not readily exploitable.
That about sums it up. Thanks for your consideration.
The crux of the issue, as I see it is that the Mind pool is threefold: Mind, focus, and willpower. A medic should not be able to work with mind power unless the introduce a Psychatrist skill tree, and it seems irrefutably related to the skills of a troop commander to fortify willpower and focus while under fire.
This said, I agree that "mind stims" are a ridiculous idea, and an area or group mind heal is probably a bit far fetched as well. But from a RP standpoint a mind buff isn't necessarilly a solution either. To be more specific, morale boosting and rallying don't happenbefore a battle, it happens when the chips are down, when the last shred of vitality is put to the test to overcome the odds and pull yourself to the top of the bloody heap.
This is not a "BONE" that should be thrown to Squad leaders, this is something fundamental to leading under adversity. No one is talking about anything more than a tangible positive affect on the mind pool; be it pool distribution across the group, a small but noticeable burst of focus or willpower (with consequences), or the ability to pick a broken soldier up off the ground and say, "dammit! we need you get back in there and make me proud!"
Reading that CM post just angered me that medics think they should be even slightly entitled to any mind pool buffing/healing. NO WAY! If it's not going to be SL's then make combat entertainers. This isn't just about who can be the best class, it's about sincerity and depth in the universe that we have chosen to immerse ourselves in.
Oh, and I guess that means I agree with you Dark_sushi. good post. Thanks for turning me onto what those back-stabbing, no goodnik, combat medics REALLY think.
