Update: 31 MAY 2005

There has been no reportable development activity on the general issues and trends outlined at the top of this thread. Nothing new to report on the recent /formup PvP nerf either. I hope to rectify all of that at Fan Fest this weekend. I believe Anakin referred to this tactic as "aggresive negotiation" in Episode II. That being said, here is a list of our current "Top 3" actual bugs, as solicited and submitted yesterday:

  1. Volley Fire pulls way too much PvE aggro.

  2. Recharge rate on Volley Fire & Steady Aim too slow.

  3. Wind Up often fails on Rally & Steady Aim - and they don't stick long enough if it succeeds.

I'll post answers when I get them.

Darth,

Its seems clear that our revamp isn't scheduled on the dev calendar until more current issues are recitfied. However I would very much like to get any feedback you can....even if its a gut feeling....about whether the devs consider that the revamp will integrate us more into the GCW.

Thats a vague question I know, but with all the dozens of ideas on this one....from calling in shuttles to fire support strikes to more Faction pets...I'm really curious if the current whiteboard sketch for the SL revamp includes anything radically new and GCW related...or if it will be tweaks to the existing abilities, either passive or active.

I just don't have a feeling for what the SL revamp includes or excludes...or what the devs consider the main issues to be....we already know what we think.

Thanks for whatever you can find out.

Unfortunately, you already know everything that I do about what the developers' vision is for the Squad Leader in the post-CU world. Anything I could add at this point would be pure, wild-ass speculation.

he can talk about it with them... the problem is that they may not answer. I suggest grabbing Blixtev, Green Marineor Darth_platypus and asking them who is the best dev to discuss SL issues with. They may not be working on it but they are cool and are likely to direct you in the rght direction.

Oh, indeed - I'll be on those guys like white on rice. I won't have done my job unless at least three developers have a TRO on me by dinnertime Friday.

Just grabbed MSL on my Rodian.
The profession seems to lack purpose and role. And very undesirable.

What would make everyone want to be lead by a Squad Leader?
Simple, Group Size Limit.

Novice Squad Leader: +1 Group Size
Leadership 4: +1 Group Size
Master Squad Leader: +2 Group Size

Even +1 in Novice and Master box would simply rock this profession.

I personally love it. Though I need to find more people who will let me do my thing. In one way or another any character I play is a squad leader in some fashion. So for me, it was a natural fit.

I just love the love the concept idea of a wiki and I'll gonna hijack that one for us.

So lets collect all issues, broken abilities and ideas for improvements and enhancements for our profession there than clutter the forum with more and more posts:

I should have posted more on these forums long ago, I've had my thoughts about SL but never voiced anything even though I'm now one of the oldest MSL's on Ahazi.

I like a lot of the things that Scout posted. I know him to be a 'good' Reb from my server, glad to see him posting this stuff here.

I think the biggest things that could really help SL's right now (IMHO) are an increase in group size and increase in duration for the abilities we do use. I know they have some affect, I've watched the damage dealt when grouped with others. A talented riflelady from my server, Go'Go, does some nice work on turrets when I have the SL abilities flowing. Volley fire could use a little boost in what it does, but I'd take the other two items first.

There have been many many other ideas kicking around for SL's that are good. New abilities, new stuff, etc. I like the ideas, though right now I don't see the dev's totally adding in new things like that. Better change to get them to make a few tweaks on the already existing abilities.
