Thread: What other professions go well with SL?
It also depends on your playstyle. I'm mostly PvE and tend to be solo though I like groups too. The one thing I decided is that I wanted a character that at least had a chance of getting through most situations or adventures and that could help out teams as well.
Squad Leader 0-0-4-2
Pistoleer 4-0-0-3
Smuggler 0-2-4-0
Commando 0-2-0-0
Here I'm pretty handy in base takedowns - I'm only lacking Investigation II and the Bioengineer skills.
SL is useful for soloing with my NPC droid or pet and it can be useful with my group when we're PvE GCW fighting. The only SL skill that I ever use is Rally and it's more symbolic than practical (when it works) as we use it as a signal to attack. Mainly handy for the ambient group defenses in my case.
Pistoleer skills were chosen to speed up my attacks, and pistolwhip (which I just like doing) - also I like dodge as a general defense even if it's far from perfect.
Smuggler allows me to slice containers and terminals which is fun and profitable. It also gives me the potent dirty fighting tree for pistol skills.
Commando lets me use the launcher pistol but I also have access to, and some accuracy and speed with, heavy weapons which let me take down bigger and more dangerous foes than I might otherwise be able to handle. Mixes and matches nicely with the delays and low blows of Dirty Fighting.
And that's my guy. Might not work for anyone else but it's fine for me.
Novice Squad Leader(almost got master and dropped it all so I could have fun again)
Master Marksman/Scout
Commando 0/0/3/0(love the LP, but the flamer is where the damage is at)
Pistoleer 0/0/0/2
Novice Medic(gotta use stim B's)
Kinda an all around build. I might drop the pistoleer when I start using the flamer more but I love having blast and heat damage available, as well as a good republic blaster. Of, course when the SL issues are fixed to my satisfaction I'll be going straight to MSL. Just haven't figured out what I'll drop to make room.
Aiming for Master Squad Leader, Master Pistoleer, enough medic skills to use Stim-Cs....and if not.. Stim-Bs.
NephthysMourninstar, what's really funny about what you wrote in your orginal post was that you decribed exactly what I've been thinking lately. I'm a Squad Leader/Pistoleer debating on whether I should become a full support class. Like part combat medic and doctor.
I'd hate to loose my fight abilities though.
I kinda went the rout less traveled
Master Squad Leader/Bounty Hunter
0/0/3/4
Gives me most of the BH pistol line and all of the light lightning cannon although recently I have been thinking about mixing in commando in oppose to bh..... hmmmmmmm ::runs to alakazam's character builder::
To the fellow SLs who dabble also in Commando: Why did you chose Heavy Support Weapons rather than the HAR? I know that there are some issues with it (guess what: As SL this is something I have learnt to cope with
