Been a Squad Leader for a week now .... Got novice and just shrugged off that the only change after getting it was a funky sort of Chat ... got my first ability a 4 days latter and just mummbled some that its broken from the start and still no change from just being what I was a week ago ... My biggest fight is figuring out what to do in conjunction with the SL Proffesion ... OTHER than Creature Handler ... I hate that proffesion ... so not Star wars like ... But I will be here for the long term ... so anyone with a suggestion on what other proffesions will make a Squad Leader a viable unit member please speak up.

i'm the only SL in my PA and it gets lonely sometimes lol....no one to teach me new skills...but it's still fun people take me everywhere as their personal mobile totem pole even if rally is broken.

People look at the active commands, and rate the profession based on it. This profession is not about the active commands! The active commands are designed to be a last ditch effort to boost the team to safty. At master this is the passive bonuses you get for ALL members of the group (and yes they do work):

Group Burst Run Efficiency +60
Group Terrain Negotiation +60
Group Ranged Defence +30
Group Melee Defence +30

A Master Pistoleer gets:
Ranged Defense +13

A Master Scout gets:
Terrain Negotiation +40

I don’t remember what a Master TKA gets for melee defence, but you get the picture.

Squad Leader RULES!!

It's nice that the passives work, although the passive terrain negotiation's affect on your group is marginal at best. Either way, because all those abilities are passive, it's very difficult to see the squad leader's contribution to the squad.

Because the passives work, I would say that the profession is not 100% broken. If the passives had a drastically noticeable effect on combat and movement, maybe that would be worth it, but they don't. Squads barely notice the change.

I just got to SL last week, I'm 0/0/0/1 now, and looking forward to moving up the ranks to be the first Master Squad Leader in Goontown on Lowca.

It's great being in such a large PA (150+) getting groups is easy as pie, I made over 60k in SLXP in about an hour, it was fantastic!

I really hope they work the bugs out, this is the class that I've wanted to get into since I started and I **edit** well sat in a LOT of camps to get here!

heres another tip Fatrick, do the Tusken fortress with at least a group of ten. Use a weapon with a fast attack speed. You'll get like 500k xp in about an hour. The squill caves will also give you uber xp.

How do you improve the entire game, and one of the more useless professions at the same time? Well this is a start: Help Support the http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=squad_leader&message.id=10609>Fortification Proposal

Although there are still some problems with some of our abilities, i never thought about dropping my SL-skills. Tons of posts here in this forum try to make our profession much worse than it is. Maybe there's still lot of work ro do by the devs, but beside all the abilities you can gain, SWG still is a RPG and a Squad Leader is one of the few real RP-Characters the game offers...

I'm keeping my squad leader. I'll drop creature handler first.

What do you think about that, huh, SOE? I reject your **edit** mini-game in favor of broken, ineffectual abilities.
