Thread: Pets for Squad Leaders

I think this is an interesting idea. I was about to post something on a similar thread suggesting that nonfactional NPC pet options become available but this kinda fits the bill. While it doesn't fit into the concept of the SL for those who joined it not expecting any pets it does make sense.

From my perspective our contribution to the party is weak and my preference is they give us better ability to lead players or be able to contribute to the effectiveness of the party. Having pets would somewhat improve our contribution, especially if there are some with better AI that can contribute things that an animal, droid, or factional pet could.

The taming of NPC would be very difficult to handle effectively. I suppose there would have to be some factional issues to help facilitate that. Maybe hired mercenaries would be more in order for SL not involved in factions or better or more numerous potions for SL that are.

honestly:

i dont want to see SL get pets of ANY kind.

know why?

becaus eive worked my proverbial a** off on this profession and waited months for nay type of a fix whiel the profession is worthless and i WILL not have it becoem some profession that 5/6 of the community wants to dabble in just for certain skills.

I will not see SL become a g** d*** profession liek CH that everyone wants to dabble with a bit just so they can kick a** that much easier.

only good idea that came out of this was group sizing. Maybe they should limit non-SL group leaders to 10 people and SL group leaders to 10+.

10 men is more thna a fire team in the army and isnt exactly easy to control. Many special forces units operate in teams of 4-6, they might have 20 peopel on the gorund, but they are all split into smaller teams in many cases.

SL's should have th eupper hand at group control and limits bar-none

I would only see your concern with dabblers if you don't trust SOE to structure the Squad Leader skill tree properly (which I don't blame you for given their track record so far). The SL skill tree would need to be scaled nonlinearly with greater and greater rewards as you reach master. This would give dabblers little advantage, and people who are dedicated to SL a great advantage.

As for Squad Leaders having the ability to command larger groups than non-Squad Leaders, it will never happen. That is wishful thinking. SWG is trying to encourage a group experience for all players. They will never (intentionally) do anything to compromise that.
