Thread: The Latest XP Formula My Comments
I agree -- fix class first, THEN worry about XP. Leave XP as it is, give us combat bonuses, defensive bonuses that work -- rapid fire morale bonuses -- anything that actually works.
We have cool titles, and cool sounding abilities, but make them better.
But, SL doesn't offer individual glory. That's what most people moving into the Flavor of the month seek more than anything else. While they might come in for a while, they won't stay. Not much for bragging rights. There will be a few exceptions, but not many.
I don't know that we need to revert to the old formula necessarily.
Just reduce the current formula by 50-60% and it'll be fine.
It does kind of gall me that the XP goes insanely high just when people are having to master the skill just to become a Jedi. As though the Devs are saying "This profession sucks and you probably wont enjoy playing it so we'll quadruple the XP to help you get it over with as soon as possible". I know that's not the case, but I have a hard time getting the conspiracy theorist out of me. ![]()
BTW Captain Vemnox. You're doing a great job as correspondent.
The amount of exp you can get now is ridiculously fast. Which isnt a bad thing. Since SL exp is now easy to come by, one can easily drop the skills and then start from novice all over again. It would take like only 4 weeks to hit master anyway ![]()
What I mean is, dont change the way the exp works now. I'm fine with seeing master SLs that didnt have to grind through all this. We should keep it this way so we can unlearn SL and actually go have fun and play other professions, and then come back and relearn SL again if we want to.
Lol, and then right when you want to go back to SL, they'll nerf XP to hell, only to fix it a few days later, when you don't feel like doing it anymore

Fixmost of theabilities. Fix XP. Fix the rest of the abilities.
The flavor of the month folks either won't show or will leave quickly. For the most part, those folks are after personal power. Look at the classes they choose and why.
A squad leader is not personally powerful. Their power is derived from the strength of the squad. When the uber seekers realize this, they will leave. Few, if any, of them want to be in a 'support' position.
So you think if you could master combat medic in about an hour there wouldnt be a massive uproar, and a change to formula almost straight away ?
The only good that about that formula was it was a lot better paced than the current one we have but, guys, we all know that the "original original" XP forumla reflected nothing to do with what the SL did.
I had no problem with the original formula, but how does the new formula have anything to do with what the SL does? It's XP by what damage the group does. Still doesn't have much to do with what the SL does.
Again, I had no problem with the old formula. I think the only people it bothered were players trying to be doctor/SL or other non combatants that couldnt get XP if they didnt fight.
In my opinion, the formula should remain the way it is until people actually have a reason to level through the class.
In a year, when they fix Squad Leader and make it one of the most desirable professions in the game, everyone will Master SL in 4 hours. Then it will be declared overpowered and nerfed back to uselessness.
It takes the Devs forever to make any changes. As soon as SL becomes desirable, the profession will be inundated by the "flavor of the month" group as you call them and it will hurt ALL Squad Leaders.
Fix the XP before that happens. If we wait, everyone will be sorry.
AMEN to that.
Get the experience fixed, if it was a massive job that would detract time from sorting out SL abilities I would be concerned but its not.
Remember -
This is just my personal opinion thread. I've already told the Dev's it's too high and needs to be brought down somehow and quote- "Perhaps we should revert to the original formula for the time being." From here on out, it's in their reigns. I want to get that straight. This thread is not what I told the Dev's. I, in fact, have voiced no opinion to them other than the above quote.
