Trolling for a one star!

No really, now that I think of it, this profession is way to powerful, I mean come on look at the abilities I have. I can make an entire group run up hills faster than they could if they didn't have scouting or combat medic. I can sacrifice myself by giving everybody burst run so they can get away from danger, I can sacrifice myself to make other people shoot better for like a second, I can sometimes get my whole squad to fire one shot at one target. I have defensive bonuses that work if I make the squad, but not if I'm made the leader of an existing squad, and they make your squad members defence god like if they are already god like. I can usually clear dizzy/stun effects from my group, but not if I'm dizzy or stunned, and I can spread out the wounds of my combat medics so they can make people feel better about themselves and keep fighting, ooh, ooh, ooooh, I can allso send pretty colored messages to people, and have it appear in the middle of their screen! Yay! I am the god of all combat support professions, more useful than a combat medic, more sought after than a doctor! Any group with me in it is marginally better than a group without me in it!

Just look at all the bonuses I give everybody as a brand new novice squad leader! We don't get crappy skills as a novice squad leader like some other professions do. I mean what is the ability to shoot better when compared to my group defense bonus? Or the certification for a better weapon when compared to my ability to make people run up hills faster? Or the ability to use better medicines when compared to my ability to make a message pop up in the middle of your screen?! (huh? What do you mean the only ability I get as a novice is the /sys command? Where are all those things that actually help my squad? Well what does my +10 leadership do then? You're kidding right?)

Oh, it has just been brought to my attention that this is a noob profession that is pretending to be elite. Uh, sorry.

Ha! I finally found out why rally fails so much! There was a post by Thunderheart that has to do with the 5% chance of a critical failure in the crafting process.

You see, it is a risk vs. reward system. You have a 5% chance to critically fail because you also have a 5% chance to critically succeed! So using that same logic they had to make rally fail so much because it makes your squad uber and almost undefeatable when you use it! The old risk vs. reward system. Same with volley fire, it destroys targets so effectivly it has to have a huge failure rate to make up for the reward of it working.

In my opinion you are actually correct. I believe that in early beta those abilities would have been considered very powerful. However the profession fell by the wayside and didn't undergo the development it should have. That meant it continued with substandard abilities that would have been overpowered in earlier models.

Wow, diffinately not Scruffy looking ForsakenFrenchFries. Although I find the black lipstick vaguely disturbing, I have a strange desire to kiss you. You're not my twin sister are you?

Hmm...anybody seen the new changes for the GCW? It seems to me that smugglers now have a more useful group ability than squad leaders, and they don't even have to be the group leader for it to be in effect. It's a no HAM passive ability that helps the whole squad avoid scan detection.

So now, Smugglers will be more sought out for grouping than squad leaders will.

Hey! NO FAIR DiLune! You are not supposed to agree with me, this is my rant thread. I come by and resurrect it for stupid stuff I think of. Most of which I think is funny but then I have a pretty warped sense of humor, or so I'm told.

Although it does sound like a good theory, huh?

Once again I partially agree with you. Only SL will be undergoing a revamp and we have something to hold up to the Devs to say "Hey, you really could do it for Smugglers so why can't you do it for SL." I see this as a machiavellian reason (let alone all the other good Do Unto others types of reasons) for supporting the change to Smugglers.

Actually i just got Master Squad Leader, and it kicks ass.

get better aiming, group burst, rally, and spread out the wounds so the TKA's just meditate it away so you never need to go back and heal.

KICKASS.

maybe VolleyFire could actually make everyone in the group attack at once at the same target, not just the people that are already attacking...

The ideas don't sound too bad... either SL requires less skill points or it becomes more powerful. The biggest danger that could come up if SL gets too strong might be that too many kids go for it (similar to BH) who only want the power but not the responsibility and seriousness to lead a group.
