Thread: Squad Leader Correspondent Public Address
A few things:
1. Thanks for your post, Cap! I agree with most things you said. However, I still think a FaQ sticked on the top of the board would prevent a lot of the 100-people-posting-the-same-question scenario.
2. I thought there were two Devs working on our profession? Getting revamped "at some point" is not really what many SLs were waiting for. And I agree, Cities will be bugged like hell once they come out. Another month of getting them to work as they should... most likely.
3. Best news of the day... they're going to change the way SL xp is gained right now again. As you all know it's the combat xp of your group members that makes your gained experience at the moment. A HUGE cut.
I love the idea of the Squad Leader class, but right now I'm running a bit low on motivation. This class had to wait a reallylong time already just to hear that it's taking even longer.![]()
=sigh=
Cap Vem,
Just a quick reply from one of the mostly lurker-type SLs on the board. Thanks for the update, sir!
I usually don't post because someone's already said it better than I would have or because the conversation at hand isn't worth participating in (petitions, "I'm leaving unless..", etc.) but that doesn't mean I don't consider this board a home as well (I'm just the quiet brother who schemes and plots against the more unruly members of the family!).
At any rate - Thanks for *doing* what you do. I've had similar jobs in the past where the main job is to be the liaison but in reality you're a buffer. /smirk I support ya 100% and believe you're doing the best you could be expected to do. Don't let the ignorants force you into hating this - we need you to keep it up.
Again, thanks,
Jerryn DuCroix - Corbantis
Cap you rule. Don't listen to those whiners that don't understand why you're not flying around the office in tights and a cape single handedly saving the day for SL's everywhere. Those idiots will always cry. You have been emminently effective in delivering the news you have available to us, and our issues to the devs. Precisely the role of a correspondent. Because you have had to same the same things for months straight is very much not your fault.
On a side note though, one thing we've not really seen that would be at least interesting. And certainly positive. You personally must havea vision of where SL will end up. And in some sense or another, it must be more accurate/probable than the random drivel we pop up with. So, I'd like to see you write up your vision for the profession. Yes its another writeup, but given your position, it would certainly at least be worth a read. Seeing as we can't get to know what's happening to our class, or when we'll be fixed, we may as well get to know eachother. Particularly since this class, more than any other, has the opportunity to become a close knit and tight community. There are not so many of us, and those who chose the profession, do so for the benefit of others. I mean how bad a bunch could we be?

I appreciate the update Cap.,it's nice to see that they (the devs) are at least recognizing your work. I appreciate you keeping us informed, thank you.
Thank you Captain...
I have been on SWG hiatus, waiting till I hear something like this. I will be logging on for the first time in a month this weekend (already gotten cheers from my guildies on our forum
)
Captain..
This job has clearly gone to your head. When you are telling people what to and what not to post you have over stepped your role. This is not an easy job nor were the correspondants meant to do this for a long time. You are burnt out, the job has gone to your head, it is time to step aside.
You served us well, turn over the reigns.
I think you do an excellent job Captain
The "THATS IT I QUIT" post was from me hehe... was so pissed off...
i did let some skills go but kept 0-0-2-2 just in case things get better
Keep the good work and ill try to keep a good faith ![]()
Later
Thanks again for hanging in there, and for sharing so many details. As Politicans will come out before Squad Leaders are fixed, I now see my path before me for the first time. I will throw myself into the politican profession as I had planned to do before it was cut from release. I continue to wish you all the best.
One word of advice, your posting suggestions probably won't have much (if any) impact. If someone can't read the forum to see that the "Where's the SL Trainer?" topic has already been answered, then they SURELY will not read your suggestions for proper posting etiquette. The posters who DO read this thread will already be practicing the kind of posting philosophy you are trying to encourage. So, do the best you can in the environment you were given.Any frustration about unconstructive posting is wasted emotionwithoutpowers of enforcement. But, if venting was your goal, that works too. ![]()
Take care!
This is turning out to be a busy day. Two PMs from Dev's today. First, a reply to my earlier PM and second regarding the SL XP ninja change:
Re: The time has come
thanks - - Ill get this to the Dev right away!
--------------
SQL XP
Just an FYI - - these are sweeping changes and we're working on a hotfix for the XP...you guys should see that soon...
Thanks for the update: ![]()
I think it was a good idea to quote the feedback you are getting from the developers and to get a report on the status of the correspondent forums. So sad.
To those of you who are giving the Captain a hard time: It is not cool to vent your frustrations on this guy. He is clearly doing the best he can to keep our profession in the developer's radar and it is clear that he can only do so much when SOE has other priorities. If you have to vent, take it to general discussion, etc.where the general player population will hear our plea. There are very few of us here who read/post on this board and the only way to get more attention is to have the general population aware of our existance. And only that will go so far. The developers have made clear that they will fix us when they feel like fixing us and no sooner. ![]()
Keep up the good work Cap'n!
Captain,
/salute
I stand by you. keep it up.
