I wear my all black and grey spec ops duster and camo pants, along with a black ubese shirt. Working on a hat right now.

I distinguish myself mostly by laying flat on my back incapped from mind damage. That's usually how everybody knows I'm in charge.

Hmm.. that's a bit of a morale buster isn't it? But then again.. that does fit the job description well

Speaking from a real life soldiers perspective, you never ever want to do anything cosmetic to make yourself stand out as a leader as it is just asking for a sniper to take a pot shot at you.
In the game its almost the same thing, any smart enemy with half a brain will want to kill the squad leader first to get rid of that pesky burst run and form up skill as well as the defending bonuses. The problem is those damn yell commands give it away everytime so I just wear my master squad leader title up all the time now. That sets me apart from the rest since its hard enough to find a master squad leader let alone one who advertises it.
However, the real way to distinguish yourself as a leader is your ability to make a difference to your troops. Not only from a technical combat perspective but from a moral and esteem perspective. If you can inspire your followers to beleive in the cause and earn their respect to the point where they trust your judgement then you will be a good leader.
Its also important to note that a leader puts the welfare of his troops above anything else. He cares about them, even though he is hard on them and is very demanding of them, however, it is always clear that nobody messes with his boys and gets away with it.

Exactly thelar. So many historical examples of a leader which you described. That's how I leadand why I gave up fencer for carbineer. Simply because I was able to keep my squadmates alive by controling the crowds....and dizzy kding the CMs
