good point, what do you bounce off a Neutral SL. their piloting would have them reserved for jabba, valarians, or Nym ( Factional wise). the status change won't nesasarly affect the Neut SL, how ever would affect those in his party. Which bring into Question; what is a neutral SL goina need combat status change for anyways other then base raids, and what is the Neutral SL doing on a base raid besides acting like a scurvy Pirate and raiding the post.

ooo I smell plot twist ( or a plot hole big enough to drive a double decker bus through)

I got two possible answers for that:

  1. The system to change factional status is not a key functionality but rather would be a bonus for the profession. If you are not factioned, you don't get the bonus, no big deal.

  2. Neutral SLs could have the ability to only set players to "on leave" status, but to make up for that they could do that for both rebels and imperials. (While factioned SLs could only affect people of their faction.) When going for some hunting, no matter of faction, i sometimes had it that people in group were declared and thus not healable for the team. If the neutral SL can bring everybody to "on leave" status, of course only if they agree upon it, this also is very helpful.

IMHO, factional stuff should be tied to ranks, not to professions.

And this "setting status" is just a work around for the missing /attack command to go combatant or special forces again.
I would rather have that re-implemented and keep the profession streamlined.

And in all cases I would like to hear something from the DEVs again regarding our SL revamp.

I agree as well. For the sole fact that if someone doesn't want to get involved in the GCW, they shouldn't be made to. Like I said, what about the pure neutral SL's.

Whilst I agree that the ability to change someones faction status appears a good idea, I feel that being a GCW element it should stay within that mechanic. Linking it to faction rank is a worthy suggestion, and it would at least add some sort of functionality to the rank system. However I feel that inevitably the Squad Leader Profession will somehow get linked into the GCW, but in what form I have no idea...............

The trouble with tying it to faction rank is that EVERYONE is a colonel. And that's only a small exaggeration. Most people are.

That's why they need to fix the GCW. Initiate the higher ranks, and take care of it that way.

only +35 ranged accuracy and +20 ranged speed. That is horse hockey, should be more than that.
