Thread: A way to Make retreat actually mean Retreat
Psionic_Maji wrote:
1) Give it a 5-10 min cooldown
2) make it last 1:30
3) makethe burstrun slightly fasterfaster -115-125% of normal
4) Grant extra defences, perhaps state as well as Ranged/melee to those under /retreat
5) Reduce damage output by those under it by an extra 75%, thus still allowing crowd control specials (states/posture changes/knockdowns) but damage attacks would be rendered more or less ineffective
6) Give accuarcy and damage bonuses to the Squad Leader himself
Thoughts, Ideas?

How about a counterpart to that version of Retreat? I'll call it "Charge" ![]()
It would go something like this (and I'll put it in your format if you don't mind
):
- Affects group members not currently in combat* (excluding SL)
- 15 second duration
- 5-10 min cooldown
- Would increase the speed of those affected by about the amount that burstrun currently has.
- Increasethe rangeand damage output by those affected.
- Squad Leader movement speed and attack effectiveness is reduced for a short period of time.
* People "in combat" are those that aren't attacking and aren't being attacked.
If planned ahead, "Charge" would give a group a little extra oomph when they come across a high-levelled mob. In preliminary PvP, this would create a "first strike" situation where one group can deny the other group's use of "Charge" by attacking them first. A group could also flank the enemy and pressure a troublesome enemy with a joint Charge attack. The potential consequences to the Squad Leader would encourage him to find a safe spot before he barks out the command to charge, preferably a position where he can oversee the battle and form tactics as the battle rages on.

- Retreating
- Charging
- Flanking
- Etc.
Of course, there's still the issue of balance, as RenKesson has stated, which should be considered no matter what tactic the skill is encompassing.

Yeah retreat needs to be an option for getting the feck out of there so reducing peoples damage output is perfectly acceptable, however in real life combat and you retreat you make a tactical withdrawl, putting people laying covering fire to allow the rest to get back, then they lay cover fire so on and so on
omg, i have so many good ideas for SWG, screw it, ima make my own MMO!!!1
Since this wasnt started in the CURB forums, I am still going to be able to discuss this here. I will post some of the ideas from the CURB and Corr threads when I get a good compiled list. You guys deserve the right to throw in your comments and concerns as well.
/salute
And thanks again.

Woot! Thanks Irott. I'm really glad it hit off with your crew. Recognition is nice, but as long as this prof is fixed, I'm happy. SL has always been my first love, and I so want to make it my own again. I want to want to (no, that's not a typo) be a Squad Leader, but I've been disappointed so far, as many of us have, but my heart is still here. People are here because we're concerned and we want to help. If this little idea helps to make this profession better, I'm honored to be a part of that.
Thanks for your response. Keep me posted on this one.
After reading this post I think I'm going to join you ranks!

Thanks again Psionic Maji for starting all this.

Because this idea was started on the "normal" boards will you be allowed to post replies to your thread on the CURB and corr boards here? Or is just that you can continue to discuss it?
Since the idea was started here, I will still be able to discuss it here. I need the entire community on this one, not just those in the CURB. I won't post quotes, but I will summarize the information that I gather from those other locations.
