this would have my support 100%, i can tell you that...

not only does it make squad leaders MUCH better to have around, but it would improve combat and grouping in this game tenfold...no telling how many times I've died on Lok saying "SHOOT THE KIMO ON THE RIGHT", only to die because some idiot doesn't know his right from his left.

To quote one of my group-mates, "hold up your index finger and your thumb...does it make an 'L'? THEN THAT IS YOUR **edit**ING LEFT"

I love the original idea. Especially the part where it's "tab to target." Not only marking the target, but an easy mode of getting people to target it is important with assist being as slighted as it is. Nice idea all around.

er have u guys heard of the /assist command. Anyone can shoot at anyone elses target with ease. We do it all the time in a pa hunt usually assisting the largest pet (using a toolbar macro). Whats the big deal about a special command for Squad leader to paint a target. totally useless is u ask me.

And yes i am a SL and flame me if u like!

Yay Menzzo. Way to point out the one flaw to their plan. Instead of suggesting things like this look at what is already available to us and then compliment those. Even better fix what we do have then worrie about changing things that are useless. How can you judge the effectiveness of a broken ability?

No paint target. Its a waste of a special. /assist owns. Everyone should be assisting either the puller or the main tank anyway. Though /assist has had problems in the past.

Get rid of /syscommand as well. Fix the chat system so we can filter out the battle spam. We are not the only people in the group who needs to be heard.

Example of a typical 30 to 40 man EQ raid:

Raid Leader (RL): ok we are really, please pull.

Puller: Incredibly Mean and Nasty Mob (IM&NM) inc.

Main Tank (MT): I have an Incredibly Mean and Nasty mob as my target, please assist me now!

Druid: IM&NM has had his buff's dispelled.

Ench: IM&NM has been tash'd.

Ranger: IM&NM has been snared.

Druid: IM&NM is as weak as a kitten now.

Cleric 1: MT has been CH'd, Cleric 2 go go go.

Cleric 2: MT has been CH'd, Cleric 3 go go go.

Cleric 3: MT has been CH'd, Cleric 4 go go go.

Cleric 4: MT has been CH'd, Cleric 1 go go go.

Player 1, 2, 3, ...30: ADD! ADD!

2nd Tank: I am engaginga IM&NM#2, keep me alive until the MT can help me please.

Druid 2: Spot heal inc to 2nd tank.

Druid 3: Spot heal inc, to 2nd tank.

Player 1, 2, 3: Mob at 20%!

RL: Watch out, IM&NM Enrages (auto reposts at low hitpoints), turn off attack soon...

Wizard 1, 2, 3: Nuking a IN&NM so he can't gate away...

RL: **edit**! How many times do I have to tell you to watch for enrage. Consent Puller if you died please.

IN&NM: Dies...

RL: switch to other target and push him into camp or we will agro more mobs.

etc... etc.. etc..

SWG encounters are so trivial itboggles my mind. If SWGever becomes even a somewhat serious player in the MMORG's space /sys will not cut it. It's not bad, its just not sufficient. The whole group will need to communicate eventually. To make it anovice SL ability isa waste. With a good chat system and a well trained team, you won't ever need to use it.

I've had some nasty add situations, (an enraged dune kimo and a dune kimo at the same time) so it isn't too terribly wussy. But yeah, the chat command I use is regular caps locks. why /sys? Or /g works quite well as well. /sys /sucks.

thanks for the heads up on /assist. did not know this was working. Will give it a try. As for this paintball theory, thumbs down over here. I want something of substance, not eye candy.

I'm still having trouble using specials after firing /assist when switching targets.

If you're in combat, and then switch targets with/assist you still need to tab through all the enemies until you hit the one you're assisting on in order to use specials. Or at least that's how it was functioning as I last recall.

not sure about /assist since i haven't used it, but if I am tabbing through targets (while firing on something) to see what else is out there, I left click in space (not on a target) and it defaults me back to whatever I am firing on. Try that with the /assist.
