I think this is a great idea but pets alone won't solve the problems with Squad Leader.

The whole XP formula is flawed, the special abilities are broken, and novice squad leader is worthless. So why do we stick with this profession? I wish I could give a rational answer to that one.

I think the CH should be gimped... why Becuase I would like to see the pets have a permdeath like the faction NPCs.

we don't need NPCs added you got faction NPCs for that. they work well I would like to however see that if your a squadleader they do not suffer a permkill. I have seen a Senior hvy wepaon spec go aginst 3 players and take one of them out before the remaining 2killed him then DBed me.

the failure rate of rally really hurts espcially if your group does not listen and spreds out your chance of failure is increased I have seen that rally does make a difference i can stand there and get hit alot less as otehrs do but losing so much for failure the idea of the professions I have choosen means I wil never wear armor though. praise be feigh death.

the big XP is in big groups but they hurt our HAM the most as well. why can they not reverse the cost small groups hurt you more then big groups?

Thats not such a bad idea, but I just dont think it will be cool to see SL turn into another pet class like the CH.

Its totally quite unoriginal. SLs are the only type of pulsing chant buffers in SWG atm, I think it would be good to keep SLs the way they are now. Perhaps boost their effectiveness.

you all keep saying we already got faction pets we dont need nothin else.. what about those who remain neutral?? and if you say why dont they declare the answer would probably be so that they can group with anyone.. in this neutral SL are probably the most gimped of all

If you want to be a "SQUAD" leader then you pretty much have to be a memeber of some organization or working with some people who are. But if you want to stay neutral then be a merchant or a weaponsmith otherwise have a coke and a smile...you know the rest.

The whole idea of giving SL extra NPC pets is stupid and I wish people would stop bringing it up on the boards. What they need to do, is lower the cost of our abilites, increase their effectiveness and maybe add some extra melee and ranged defense, right now the static effects of melee/ranged defense and the terrain neg/burst run are the best things we have, the only ability I use is /rally and that fails way way to offten. But again the idea of us having extra NPC pets is the stupidest thing and realy wish people would stop bringing it up. Squad Leader is a support class, you support the other group members, it is not a uber all powerfull combat class, its like saying a crafter or an entertainer needs to have extra pets because a CH could kill them solo.

if the sqaud leader in not an uber all powerful combat class.. the devs really need to change the many discriptions of the professions abilitiesas well as the general discrption of what the class is all about read it sometime.. its very intereting.

anyone that takes an advanced weapons line will see the difficulty of missions change as they go up in skill. the sqaud leader can increase in skill and it never changes. that says just how useless we currently areby the game mechanics alone on how it awards mission difficulty. proff being I worked solely on smuggler and SL difficulty was usually 10. I dropped most of my SL skills and picked up novice pistoleer. the difficulty of the missions increased. not much mind you but still they changed and not the static NPC missions but missions from rebel destroy mission terminals.

I took smuggler in the hopes that they would have some built in piloting skills be an effective SL on planets and in space (when and if it ever gets here). If you say pick a advanced weapons skill then... I do feel pity on you all when you want to lead squads in space as well as on planets.

take out a SLs advanced weapons skill which most of you have some type of and you will see just how unless this class can be, again dispite its discription.

know wrong place to post this but ...

Jedi are there not neutral PAs which group to hunt high level creatures.. saying that things like "neutrals dont group" is ridiculous...

We dont mean to make them have their 'own' particular npcs. I am only asking for a faction discount with whatever faction they join. Think about it, would the empire be more willing to help an individual, or someone who can improve on the effectivness of their troops. The same thing goes for the rebellion. Its nothing to hate. Its just a suggestion. I dont mean make us ridiculously powerful, i think people should just feel like the class of squadleader is necessary. The squadleader him/herself should also have some ability that makes them unique.

While I am a member of the imperial faction myself, I agree with Rigal that giving faction bonuses only would alienate the neutral squad leaders out there.

Which is why I'm in favor of making us NPC troop handlers like CorSec, Fed-Dub, RSF etc.

If you didnt want to fight in a war, why play a game called star wars. Not to mention there is no other real point to being a squadleader if you arent going to fight pvp. Sopick a side, and shut it. Its not that hard, if you wantto beneutral pick a non combat class.

here is a thought.. maybe we players do not see the bonuses... becuase the sqaud leader profession IS the creature handler of Faction Pets? Maybe the bonuses jsut make faction pets so much more Uber. I mean crature handler... means creatures... Sqaud leader means Troops - even faction troops( or commonly known as pets.) not everyone likes cats...
