Thread: voice your opinions: should SLs have a group HAM reduction skill?
33% seems more like a good number than 20%
Not many will notice a 20% reduction really. Also I think this could be included with some other skills on the tree not become a major skill of the tree
"Ideally 5% at novice, 5% increases per tier, 5% at master...30% seems like a fair reductionfor a master squadleader to be able to impose on his group."
Agreed.
That sounds perfect. It's not overpowered, but I think it would definitely make Squad Leaders much more desirable.
I'm in favor of GroupHAM Reduction abilities..
The less HAM people use in combat, the less HAM people need to regenerate during downtime. (Theory?)
This would essentially reduce the downtime also, not just HAM costs..

I also add my vote for HAM cost reduction. I view it as morale boost and I'm all for the passive bonuses. I think 30% sounds good, and I liked the idea of the SL being able to dampen or somehow affect overall group battle Fatigue. Maybe spread THAT across the group instaed of wounds. GOOD IDEA.

"Either -
Passive with a consistent drain on some pool
OR
Active with a length timer or a reset timer, or both."
PASSIVE would mean like our mobility bonus or defense bonus... we never have to "turn it on" therefore there is no "consistent drain on some pool". Never having to turn it on and never having to spend our own ham to use it means it can't be too powerful... which is why I suggested 20%.Seems folks want to inch that up to 30, so I'm fine with that.
ACTIVE would mean we have to use a skill like /toughenup (just pulled this name outa the air) which would have to queue in our attack list and would have a mind HAM cost for us and would only last over a period of time. An ACTIVE skill with these inherent costs would mean it should be much stronger than a passive one... don't remember what the consensus was here but I suggested 50% in the first post.
Holo has just stated in his PM posts that he wants Squad Leaders to assume the bard role in this game providing group buffs... looks like the timing is perfect to suggest this since it fits right in with thatconcept![]()
I have been playing this profession since beta, and I like the idea of the HAM reducing skill. Ideally I would like to see it as a passive ability which increases in effectiveness depending on the skill of the squadleader in whatever line it would be assigned to.
Ideally 5% at novice, 5% increases per tier, 5% at master...30% seems like a fair reductionfor a master squadleader to be able to impose on his group.
This would most definitly add the the appeal of seeking a squadleader for your group, making them more useful and desireable in grouping situations.
Sounds like a good idea and I hope it finds it's way in

That would be awesome indeed, the EQ bard anyways functions not like a bard at all...the skills translate well just dont call them songs. It's easy to see how leadership could help in all kinds of situations. Would be good news.....would be nice I miss the bard role in EQ.
Within the span of 10 seconds I could turn the group from a defensive mode to a offensive mode, or even a recovery mode....it was interesting and I rarely fought myself. But you always directed the battle from behind the group, affecting everything in some way or another. And a bard was one of two madatory classes for groups in that game.
