Rancor expeditions on Dath are also excellent for XP. I led a group of about 18 or so (pets and PCs combined) and pulled in 900k XP in about 45 minutes. They appreciated the SL in the group too, as there were several newbs in the group without Explore trained, and dath is kind of a pain with it's steep cliffs to not have any terrain negotiation. Also, with a group that sized, the /sys messages are a great way to keep everybody organized, esp. if you do them in color.

Just get a couple friends, have them join your group and have their pets or droids join your group, and hunt relatively easy things (if you are good at combat of course). My friend went with me and was a master rifleman, so i got lucky , and he one-two shot killed desert razorbacks, which give 1.7-2K squad leader exp

Every response here is dead-on - and yes, the HARDEST part of SL is finding a Trainer! =]

Your best bet - Organize a time with your PA to head to a tougher planet and go hunt stuff. If your PA isn't available, shuttle to the Dantooine Mining Outpost or Nym's Stronghold on Lok and yell that you're forming a hunting party. You'll make plenty of XP in no time. Also, train as OFTEN as possible - another huge problem for me was that I would go out, get MAD xp, hit my cap, leave to train, and the group would dissipate.. If you get a big group going you will roll in the XP - just be sure to help out your group so they don't regret making you SL. For instance:

- Keep an eye on your group's status bars - you see anybody with a status effect (dizzy, stunned, etc), use /formup and help them out. Any time your group is focused in combat, try to use /steadyaim - your commandos will appreciate the to-hit bonuses. Against bigger targets like Rancors, be sure to use /volleyfire.

Most people are totally willing to help if you ask to be made leader so you can earn SL xp. At high-level places like Lok and Fort Tusken, expect to get 2k-5k per each kill.

What to hunt:

Dathomir: Rancors, pretty much anything

Dantooine: Pikets, Dantari/Janta camps, voritors, savage quenkers

Lok: Gurks (also be sure to harvest the meat, your medics will thank you)

Just get a couple of your guildmates and go to an advanced palnet and run missions. I went to Dath with 3 of my mates and had capped my xp before we finished all 8 of the missions.

This is actually easy xp. I am a casual gamer and took SL to help out on hunts at this rate I will make master after very few hunts.(took me from July to Feb to make TKM)

I don’t blame you for being mad, cause I just opened and Holo yesterday and it said; Squad Leader and I cursed and swore up and down.

This class is the most useless and pointless class in the game. Worst yet it cost too much xp for what benefits it gives (I cant find any useful ones). On top of all this you have to lead in a game of power leveling madman who don’t have 2 seconds to spare anyhow.

This Holo should take me about a YEAR to do and totally ruin my character by the time I’m finished filled with useless pointless skills that no one even uses.

Almost be better off deleting this character and starting over. LOL Master Squad Leader, more like Master Stand around in town begging for a group hunt and paying people to let you Lead the group for 10 minutes.

Someone really had there head up there <insert colorful remark here> when they thought this class up.

63 skill points worth of nothing but stripping my character of all its defenses while the game is being built for power hungry n00bz who are not even doing holos and are max’ed out defensively and offensively. By the time I’m done with this Holo I don’t even know if I will have a character worth salvaging.

And lets not forget the fact you have to keep LOGING OUT cause you get no XP from a BUG!

Seriously..... squad leader has been the fastest profession yet for me (Yes i am grinding post silent holo). I went to dathomir on the advice of others as novice.

To get this profession done quickly you are almost forced to forgo nicities and start yelling about forming a rancor hunting group at the trade outpost. I had a group of about 7-10 after about ten minutes.

Igained around 31,000xp pre rancor and had hit the first cap of 500,000 before the 3rd lair. As others have said the only hard thing about this profession is the running from planet to planet to get training, as other Squad Leaders are few and far between.

As a side note I've actually enjoyed Squad Leader so far, /sysgroup may not be amazing but it can help to get everyone's attention quickly. and Rally has its uses, not to mention the inate bonueses to defense and movement speed for people who arent fully fledged scouts.

If you are having problems letting people make you squad leader, make sure you ask nicely and explain that it is for experience. Also i found that if you then actually do a good job of trying to co-ordiante everyone and keep them informed things go much smoother and people will respect you for it.

Foehammer, the +'s to defense and terrain negotiation make Squad Leader worth the points.

Also, being able to grant +'s to hit and curing state affects without medicine is nice!

Squad Leader is one of the easiest professions to master. If all you're doing is holo grinding anyway, getting SL in your list is a blessing, not a curse.

I really hope these people arent on my server. I have a core group of players that like to hunt and do things fun and interesting I use my skills to enhance theirs I make sure they get the xp/money/loot they are looking for. I have one of the cleverest tricks in the book that im not going to share because i dont want these naysayers using it and thus getting what i find the most appealling find in squad leader the ax. I am a Master Squad Leader I put parties together and direct my squad yeah we don't have a lot of positive skills. But when defense stacking is gone then people will want us for those passive capabilites. Go grind out squad leader in the whole 4-5 hrs it takes at Fort Tusken. Take a shuttle back and forth to Bestine, get master and drop it. I do not understand why people have to knock this profession when it has some perfectly good skills to compliment a leaders playing style. Or why they say its too hard to be trained. Find a town ask the mayor to put in a squad leader trainer pay the town for its trouble im sure you will find that squad leader trainer there when ever you need it. As far as im concerned we don't need 1000's of squad leaders out there. a few hundred sounds a little much. I want to see what happens when a well trained and disciplined squad attacks in PvP. I think i might need to do some Observer grouping to see how other squad leaders are doing great things.

Layoff the squad leader stuff, you don't have to grind anything no one said everyplayer in star wars galaxy is going to have to be a jedi. Heck my holo says Master Architect now. I said NO.

Its difficult to get a group sometimes, but I think u only need like 5-6 people to get decent xp. Just ask some newbie if they would like some help, go to the usual hunting spots suggested above and grab more people, its easier if people see u already have one or two peeps with you. And the xp now is flowing pretty fast, I just started on SL holo yesterday and got the full Leadership branch in like 2 hours with a group of about 7 or 8. Once u get Leadership I, u can also tell people that u can cancel their stun and mind effects, and it definitely becomes much easier to get a group.

I just wanted to re-iterate just how easy xp for this profession is and I am a casual gamer (1 or 2 times a week). I am not a holo grinder I got marksman for my christmas present and I haven't even thought about it. Imagine that even after putting 29 points into the profession for SL.

It has been a blast so far and I haven't even made master yet. I saw one post that said this was a good rp profession, it was right this brings the ability to add so much content to the game that with all the issues that have alot of people complaining have taken a backseat with the people that I run with.

I love the SL profession!
