Squad Leader Archive
Thread: Does anyone else find it too easy...?
Are you suprised Vem?
No Squaddie is complaining enough (like the CHs) to get them to listen.
I just made SL last night...I formed a hunt to Dathomir...I found that at Novice....I really got jack. System message is stupid.Seriously thinking I did waste my time and effort on this...
Noticed that I actually have to shoot something to get leadership XP also...That blows.
How the heck am I supposed to lead a squad effectively...when I am trying to shoot and keep myself alive?
Not gonna advertise that I am a Squad leader until they fix it....Gonna work on Rifleman for a while.
No, you're right. I can't say that I am surpised. This has almost become a norm. (If it hasn't already). I am commited to testing all of the new things on Test Center, as soon as they implement them. As far as I personally stand now, I will not continue to play this class if these new abilities go through. They do not interest me, they do not interest our group members, and it is more and more seeming like they don't interest the majority of the Squad Leader. I will test these changes like a sweatshop. They may be way more and better than I expected and I can run back here and say "OMG Guys!!!". But as things are looking so far and just from how this looks on paper, it is pathetic of how completely redundant these "new" abilities are. How can they even title the Dev thread "Response from the Dev's". It wasn't a response, it was a complete "Hey I'm the SL Dev, I think this would be cool and I really don't care what the REAL people playing the REAL game think." You know something? You don't carry a product in a store that is garbage and still expect people to buy it. There's a thin line between "settling for something" and "fixing something."
If these things go through as stated and the first report continues to be neglected, then all of our voices, all of our posts, all of our well-thought-out things ... from Volatris to every little peon that comes and posts once a month ... are all going to shame and worthlessness. And I, personally, will not stand by and let such poor business be conducted over a group of people that is SUFFERING in a game with a character they should thoroughly ENJOY.
Vent off.
Vem,
Please forward that post to your SOE correspondent contact.

Hahaha. As much as I agree with what Vem said, and am glad once again I'm not the only one wondering why I'm tying up my skill points in this class, the correspondant contact is most likely just a circular file. But then, the Janitor (or old Mrs Smith, I'm not sure who) is the one working on SL anyway. Now weknow he has a serious Napoleon complex and needs to control everything he interacts with.
This is what I think also. They placed correspondents to take the heat off the Dev's. It's worked for the most part, but I've tried to keep it maintained and controlled. Go look at some other forums' posts and you'll see what I mean. I wish goodluck to the guy who secedes me, because they have completely molded this "volunteer" "voice fo the community" job into a team leading, burning at the stake fool.
When I decided to go SL...I was looking forward to it. I wasn't letting any comments here bias my decision...I worked my tail off getting the Combat XP to get Novice.
When I got it last night...I took a group of 10 people to Dathomir. Yeah..>Getting the XP was easy...since I get XP for how well the group performs...but I noticed if I didn't get at least a few shots in...I got jack.
That didn't bother me....What bothers me is how me being SL...had no effect on the group what so ever.
I think I am gonna go CH...because the CH in the group was doing MUCH better....not just with fighting...but he picked up a few new creatures,,,including a baby Malklok...God those things are huge....
I wanted SL so bad because of the way I play....but now...I realize...even with the mods they plan on making...it will still be useless to me. I want to lead...not be a puppeteer.

This is why I was so upset when I first read the suggested changes. I usually try to stay positive, but the huge disconnect between the developers and the player base just really got to me. They did most everything we asked them not to do. The smoke em while you got em ability was almost a winner, but they did a preemptive nerf with the camp thing.
My thoughts at this point is not to drop my skill points if things don't improve but to drop the game entirely. Its not all that great anyway right now and if they ever fix it, I can just start over. Of course by then I will probably be playing WoW or EQ2.
In my personal experience, it is taking a while to gather SL experience. But my primary concern for the group is being the MD, /assisting after control is in place, secondary. And yes, climbing up that combat exp tree was a struggle for me. (Scoutblaster is all I can currently use)
Yes, I arrange and construct our group outings, but not from a "puller or MA" standpoint. I organize and then delegate. We have a puller, usually a CH. We have a crowd-controller assigned, once again usually a CH or atleast a pet/droid owner. We have a tagger who is also the main /assist for the rest of the group, usually a rifleman. We assign on lair "pinger" if doing missions, its usually the one whose mission it is. If doing a dungeon crawl, the MA leads the group through after creeping up some and accessing the situation. I passive lead by keeping all together, and as the informant of situations.
I have not seen the benefit from /steadyaim, but I do not tend to watch combat scrolling. (health bars more important to me) but I use it occasionally just to laugh at the stupid "keep on target" that I seem to yell. (can wepossible get at least some different yell?)
I think I see /rally's benefit (or is it my imagination?) Although it delays harvesting and god forbid someone tries to craft a med or tent with it up................
/formup is useful for me (keeps me from having/follow then /curestat and /stopfollowover and over) but I cring everytime I call my groupmates slimeballs.......
Mobility seems good, although I have only the 1st box so far also.
I have stopped my training at this point, holding out to see where this profession leads to. With my skill points available, I will only be able to go up one tree and I do not know which one will best suit grouping yet. I cannot imagine this as a primary profession though, so you Masters I do feel for.
