Thread: Official Discussion: Tactics
/Rally: useful in situations where there are low accuracy professions in the group. Not so useful for most professions which have a high enough accuracy to make the effects unnoticeable. Fails far too often resulting in crippling HAM damage to the SL for questionable benefit.
/Retreat: not useful when you actually need it as you will have no doubt expended much of your HAM reservoir trying to keep your squad from getting to the point of rout in the first place. Duration is too short to escape from enemies at too high of a HAM cost.
Ranged defense mods: Impotent. Completely unnoticed by most players. If the mods were beefier it would make SL's much more attractive to groups.
As i said for leadership line......increase the defense MODs. We should be THE class people think of when they think of defense MOD's.
rally: Rally should give....well.... heh the other ideas listed in the othe rbranches make rally useless. It's useless now anyway heh. i really dont know what cna be done with it. Possibly give a 25% boost to all damage on attacks, liek your rallying your men and focusing them so their attacks do more. A boost to accuracy and to hit is junk. If its gonan do anything liek that, have it boost damage.
the HAM cost on this should be WAY WAY decreased. I can waste 500 mind on this in no time.
retreat: If mobility gets a boost, as i would liek to see it get, then retreat wouldnt do much. I would suggest a FULL burst run for every member, not a short one as it is now. It should also not kill the SL to use it. Maybe Half of a random HAM bar, or a 1/3. Certainly not what it is now.
i liek the idea for covering fire. Being able to increase the attack speed of squad members by 25% for 10-20 seconds would be cool. 4 members go out wiht a covering fire, while the melee users run up to attack.
the break contact idea is unncessary if retreat gets fixed properly.
and to sum up, since this is the last post im replying to about the skill branches. ALL the HAM costs for our skills need to be cut drastically. Most of these commands could be given verbally and in a crack group of elites be carried out to the letter without a waste of HAm. Directing a battle should not kill the commander. YOu never heard George S. Patton complain he was about to have a heart attack because he was telling his division commanders what to do. Audie Murphy didnt keel over when leading squads in Italy and France because he was giving orders.
soem things liek advanced Volleyfire..should cost HAM, but it shouldnt be so drastic that it makes us unable to use other commands. We should be able to throw out 4 or 5 SL commands and still be able to do more. Its called LEADING. To be effective you HAVE to use a variety of combined commands and effects to achieve a desired result. if ONE command is making it to where we cant do anything else.....then theres no point in leading. TO lead, we have to be able to give multipel directives. Period.
and keep it simple.
make a fe new commands. Give us a bit more. But dont make it bulky. Instead of steady aim, give us passive accuracy mods we dont have to worry about. Theres a lot I could say, but in short, just keep things as simple as possible but give us a bit more and fix what we have. Ive seen lots of good ideas, but if we implemented half of them we'd be like the overflowing tool chest and not know what to do.
Last night I was leading a group of about 6 on Dant. I used rally several times. I would say overall it failed about half the time. However, I noticed that when I was in the prone position it was more likely to fail, even if I was already in combat. Has anyone else found this to be the case.
Also, what other skills does rally interfer with? There was some chatter on the group channel about it interfering with one of the doctors skills. I asked the doctor, but he didn't respond and I didn't have time to follow up.

Tactics tree can use a counter-attack ability. When squad leader uses counter-attack for a period of10 secs anyone who gets attack in group imediately fires back independant from thier normally planned attack. Of course this can get balanced out with less time or less damage. Think of it as a ranged "thorn" manuever.
Ooooh, 'thorny' goodness. Those buffs from my days playing EQ were some of the best for turning a motley little newb mage into a serious fighting force....of course that could also be called "powerlevelling" but it was fun having a quick little boost that made mobs that were previously red to me kill themselves just by trying to attack me. Oh, those were the days...
But anyhow, yeah, that type of ability would be kinda fun for SL. ![]()
Cant Rez, cant use tickets, cant sit and the list goes on and on!
Tactics I: /CallForFire the squad leader TK933 has talked with his CO and has been given a patrol mission. He visits the supply officer and purchases a firemission order by cashing in some favors. When on patrol he is ambushed by some rebels on a hilltop. TK933 get's out his fire mission order and drops it on his encrypted comm device. A map pops up and he places his impact zone over the rebels. Since TK933 is a low ranking squadleader he could only purchase a mortar mission.
"Echo339, this is TK933 Fire Mission, Over"
"TK933, this is Echo339 Mortar Teamtwo ready to fire, Over"
"Echo399, Coordinates -1322 -4231 Fire forEffect, Over"
"TK933, Rodger, break,On the way."
"Echo399 this is TK933, Out"

i dont thinkt his should be put into a tree.
possibly just as a bonus from a faction recruiter.
i do liek the concept tho
I have found the only skill that my guild likes this weekend: /retreat ! Yes, you read correctly: They group with me, head out on their vehicles and while I sit at home minding my own things I command /retreat from time to time... Now they are eager to join a race (grouped with me of course)!
Pathetic how low I have sunk when my only useful skill (it used to be /rally but I have abandoned commanding that as our docs don't like it) doesn't even require me to actually lead a group or even participate in it... ![]()

Tactics are the same as strategy so we should definitely change this branch or strategy altogether and make it something new and unique.
im kind of out of ideas for right now because i just posted my ideas for all the other branches
