By popular demand...
Please read very carefully. In this post, you are to post only a question and an answer, pertaining to the Squad Leader profession. This is not a discussion thread. This is also not a comment thread. "Does Squad Leader suck?"is not a question. Q&A's should be informative and something relevant to the profession. Simply post as following example is laid out:
Q: Where are the Squad Leader trainers?
A: The complete, correct answer.
In one week from today, I will remove this sticky and place a condensed version on the top of this forum as a sticky, which can be added to. Or, if this thread is executed well, we can just use it! I must again insist - please follow format and only post usefull information. All comments, corrections to someone's Q&A, etc. should all be taken to seperate threads. Thank you for your help and continued support!
Q: Of all the correspondents, which one has the most immature signature?
A: It has to be the Squad Leader one with a 30 pica font size declaration of his job.
Q: Where are the Squad Leader Trainers?
A: There are 3 Trainers in the Galaxy. They are in Bestine, Tatooine (-1019,-3532), Dearic, Talus (588,-2934), and Moenia, Naboo (4701,-4939)
Q: What are the Pre-Requisites for Squad Leader?
A: Exploration 4, Wilderness Survival 4, Ranged Weapon Support 4. You must also have an additional 7500 combat xp
Q: How do you get Squad Leadership Experience?
A: Squad Leadership is directly based on The Number of people in the group & how much damage you do. The formula is: CombatXP x 2 x #inGroup
Q: Do Pets/Droids in the group count into Squad Leadership Experience?
A: Yes
There is also a Squad Leader Trainer in the Cantina in the Rebel Outpost on Rori. But no one listens to me when I say that.
Q: When i am the SL of a group and i have mele defence bonuses and ranged bonuses and things like thaqt do they apply to me as well or just the other people in my group. The free burstrun for retreat do i get it as well? THe formup command can i heal myself of stunned or dizzy? The stedy aim do i stedy my own aim? U get the idea

Q: Do I have to be the leader of my group to be able to use SL skills and gain SL experience?
It may sound like a stupid question, but if I am grouped with another SL, I was wondering if only one of us will be the effective SL and the other one will be a regular Joe.

Q: What skills do SLs currently have and do they work?
A: (Largely taken from a post by DiLune in another thread)
Range defense and melee defense do not work.
Rally gives you +10 to hit for a short time. It fails around 50% of the time and takes 150 mind each time you use it. While it is up group memebers cannot harvest, sit or do anything they can't do in a combat stance.
Formup removes stun and dizzy. Stun has little effect. Dizzy is important but you can't use formup while dizzy. Pets are unaffected by this ability.
Steadyaim gives an unknown bonus to hit for one shot. The effect of this appears to be very small.
Volleyfire does not work.
Boostmorale divides wounds (not damage, wounds) on the primary stats amongst the party. This is largely useless since doctors are generally more efficient at healing large amounts of wounds on one person than they are at healing a few wounds on many people.
The only truly working abilities are the +60 you get to terrain negotiation (which most group members have Explore III anyway..) the +60 to burst run (no one burst runs in this game, they all save it for emergencies...but no one runs from combat) and /sysmessage (which is about as good as an all caps /group or spatial speech.)

Q: How can I make my /sysgroup messages colored?
A: You can change the color for your /sysgroup message for all people in your group by
/sysgroup \#FF0000\ Your Message.
You can alias this to another command by:
/alias sysgroupRed /sysgroup \#FF0000\
and from now on /sysgroupRed (or whatever you want to set it too...probably something shorter so you can type it quicklyin the heat of combat) will make a /sysgroup message in red. The #FF0000 is a hex code for the RGB definition of the color and can be set to make any color. Look at
http://www.hypersolutions.org/rgb.html
or
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Graphics/Web/Colors/?tc=1
for instructions on how to make your own color choices. A few color definitions are:
- White - #FFFFFF
- Gray - #A9A9A9
- Black - #000000
- Dark Blue - #00008B
- Bright Blue - #0000FF
- Dark Green - #006400
- Bright Green - #00FF00
- Red - #FF0000
- Fuchsia - #FF00FF
- Acquamarine - #66CDAA
- Cyan - #00FFFF
- Yellow - #FFFF00

I can become a SL anytime I want at this point. When the game came out this was my first choice of professions. Once I heard it wasn't working I started up the riflemen tree, now it seems like more things are working now. Bottome line here is
Q. Is it worth it yet to become an SL? Does SOE intended to have a patch coming out soon for this profession? If so anyone know when?
If there isn't an patch in site yet, I think I will just drop the idea and go another way.
A. From 1-50 It provides a passive bonus to movement on hills. From 51+ It provides a passive bonus to movement while /prone.
