First, let me apologize if this is posted somewhere and I simply overlooked it. Be that as it may, I'm sure you guys would be more then happy to assist a fledgling to the flock.
Here's my problem... today I was in a group and once they found out I was an SL they put me in the leader slot but for some reason or another none of my abilities seemed to be working. No buff icons were appearing on any of my party members and volley fire just didn't seem to be looking. So anyway, is this a common occurance? If so, what solutions are there to this problem? Or am I just a nitwit that is ignoring something blatantly obvious?
I appreciate your time.
Edit:
And to clarify, as I'm sure these questions will be asked:
1.) Yes, I was the leader of the group.
2.) No, I didn't move as to interrupt the zip bar.
3.) Yes, the abilities initiated and the zip bars completed.

Well, the only things that I can offer as to knowledge is that you were made leader after the group was formed. That seems to be a common occurance. Plus, depending on what status they were, on leave, combatant, special forces, that will also have an effect. The next time when you're in that situation, have the rest of the group disband and see. As well as check their status. Hope that helps.

Its a known problem that if you don't form the group they don't get the bonuses. At least that is whats been happening to me.

What was your duty status?
In my experience I can only affect those 'on leave' in my group if I am 'on leave'. I'm not sure about the other possiblities of 'duty', if you can affect Special Forces members if you are Combattant

Now, no buff icons for rally/steadyaim, this could be because of factional reasons,
range to the teammembers or due to the bug that sometimes you just can't apply
them for not really inspected reasons. (The general assumption is that it's connected
to the range bug which entertainers and dancers also regularily have.)
Though, volley fire not applying is very big news to me. Did you ask your group if
they saw it? It can be that your graphics settings just don't display the circle.
Or did you see it already at some other time and just this time it didn't come up.
If that is the case, the "new patch" has us as victims, too...

i've NEVER had a problem where i was invited to a group then made leader and my buffs/specials not working for them. that is not to say those of who that say this happens are dolts. i believe you, but that's not necessarily the problem.
when you get in a group of guildies, make sure you're all the same faction status (likely and easy enough to do). if you're going to join a group of strangers, you'll want to be On Leave. that more than anything will effect (at least more consistently) whether or not they enjoy your specials.
btw, welcome to the family!

I lately had the problem myself while burning an SF Detachment HQ. All of us SF (otherwhise we wouldn't have gotten inside, for sure...) and my rally only stuck to 3 people in the complete team, can't reproduce exactly when it happened.
I think (no guarantee) that before we attacked, i managed to put rally on all of the team... during some time inside i saw that some people didn't get it any more, even if i was standing at arms length of them.
It MIGHT be connected to the fact that some people (me included) were resurrected during the attack... but, only a possibility, not more.

Pretty much everytime I'm made group leader by the /makeleader command the icons dont show. Doesnt matter what their faction status is. Most likely, the icons just dont show but the bonuses still catch. It shouldnt be a problem but apperence is alot ingame so people will think they're just not working.

Hmm... checking if the buff works without the symbols would be interesting... but not easy to do, you first have to wait till you have the bug and then need your teammates ready to spend some time for testing. (For a profession they all "know" that it's worthless, anyways... so, their motivation usually is low on that...)

Never? I dare say never say never. Just because you didn't notice it doesn't mean it never happened.
Its not just specials having trouble after being made lead. Innate abilities are having issues as well. For example. I was recently made leader of an existing group. I have scout0001, so I notice when I am getting the group terrain mods. I was crawling up hills. :/ So where the others. I was lead, but my group TN was not affecting anyone. That has nothing to do with their faction as I was not even getting the mods.

Ok, I figured it out. I have to disband from the group, be re-invited and then Rally sticks. Or at least shows up on the rest of the team. It shows up on me but wouldnt' show up on anyone else. Anyway, figured out how to get around it.
My next question is, how do I know if Volley Fire is working? From my understanding this cirle looking thingy pops up on the creature targeted and remains... yet I've never seen it thus far. My graphics are set to the bare minimum (minus character and mesh detail which is at max) and I've yet to see this animation or any kind of icon on the target. All other animations show up accordingly though (sniper shot, aim etc. etc.).
Do I have to have a pistol equipped for this to work and not a rifle? Or do I simply not see the animation but the rest of my team does?

Another case of apperence that can give us the shaft. The player needs their partical effects turned up, forgot how far though. When its turned up you'l see a big red reticule close in on the target. So, if someone asks you about that, just tell them its working and that they need to turn up their partical effects.

That's weird that SL effects need that turned up but Rifleman effects don't. I'll try it and see if that changes anything.
