Thread: so general SL forum consensus would you mind being a SL and new Droid commander in one prof?
[stupid forum]

Haven't you watched the Star Wars movies or read one of the dozens of books? Squad Leaders almost ALWAYS had droids in the ranks in the battles?
I do not understand this animosity and seeming lack of Star Wars understanding. This is NOT EQ: Space version... Our professions should be at least similar to the Star Wars genre'. The addition of droids to the Squad Leader influence would assist both professions and make SWG more Star Wars like, I think.
Good idea!
Most people wouldn't mind it...but if its pets or E-Web we go E-Web. If its pets or /formup2 we go formup2. If it pets or any cool squad enhancing ability we go with the squad enhancing ability. SL don't want pets to be a primary or secondary focus of the profession. If we can get all our cool stuff and pets then fine, we'd take it. At least many of us would. There are SL that are absolutely opposed to pets counting for anything with SL. The first few months on this forum we dedicated to an argument about whether pets should count toward SL xp or not. There were a lot of players vehemently opposed to pets even giving you xp if you grouped with them (being part of the multiplier you got) or being affected by SL abilities. Hasn't been mentioned since xp changed for us.
So I guess the answer is: If it can be worked in. If we can have our cake and eat it too. But not if it means we have to sacrifice some PC enhancing ability we would have otherwise had.

Umm... have YOU seen the movies? Show me a scene in the original trilogy where droids are used over live personnel in combat. The only scene that comes to mind is R2-D2 using his electric shocker on Salacious Crumb on Jabba's sale barge. Droids are not used during this time period for large-scale warfare, and thus there is no need to incorporate a "droid commander" role into Squad Leader. One droid is fine.

i would say that leia was the squad leader in the cloud city escape scene. artoo laid down a smoke screen to cover them from the stormtroopers as they got on the millenium falcon.
**i'm not advocating SL become droid handlers. just answering your challenge. :-)

Leia is a Master Politician who has dabbled in a number of other professions, primarily scout and marksman - she doesn't have enough skill points left over to take Squad Leader. Besides.. even if she *were* a squad leader, she had one droid in her group which any of us can do now. Now if she blew off Chewie, Han and Luke and led 3PO, R2 and other droids in order to distract the troopers so that her comrades could get away.. then I'd agree with ya!
i don't know... that whole escape scene, wasn't she spaming /retreat?
plus in ANH, i think she changed the default /formup spatial yell from 'formup slimeballs' to 'someone get this walking carpet out of my way'. she uses this after they climb out of the trash compactor.
in ROTJ, i don't know if she was officially group leader, but someone was using /steadyaim so that han solo could shoot the sarlacc tenticle and rescue lando.
finally, in ESB, i think leia was using /boostmorale. everyone around (including the audience) gets massive wounds these days when she kisses luke.
