Commando/SL was one of my main interests in joining this game, untill i found out i couldn't have it with the skill point problem and the problems plagueing both professions.

My question is, how vialble of a combination is it?
I've done some independent studies on SL/MP, SL/MRM, SL/MC and I currently am working towards NCommando. Because as of yet, I still am unsure of what I want to do. I'm already a 2/2/1/2 SL, MMar, MS, Brawler 3/0/0/0, NP, NRM, NMed. I just dropped NC last night due to some number calculations I ran and my calculations may be wrong but from what I got, the bonuses are average, while pitoleer and RM, get the better bonuses, though on defense side of those carbineers out there, I was considering it. So for those carbineers out there, don't take this as a slam, I find carbines enjoyable.
So with the new CU, how viable is MSL/MComm?
Now I do have one thing to say, up until more info came out on the CU, I was going to go MSL/MRM, but once I found out a couple things, my decisions have been skewed. With pistol xp being used, can you work both on pistols AND SL or SL AND Rifles or Carbines?
Since I'm at work, I'll have to update this later

I haven't found MSL / MCommando to be very effective personally, you're lacking specials to do anything with. Its a neat template to play with, but you're relying on the Commando weapon's dots. If you work with that in mind though, and make full use of everything commando (grenades) it might be fairly versatile, but its not for me.

So in your opinion just going for one of the weapon professions?

Or BH or Smuggler. Commando will be more of a dabbler prof if you're going MSL, simply to grab particular weapons.

Currently on Live I find it very effective, what testing I've done on TC have been positive so far (all PvE so far). I plan on keeping the Exploration line (far too useful as a sniper), so I'll probably dabble in BH since I'll already have the pre-reqs.

Yeah, I found that what I *had* in rifleman was really effective, I dropped the 3boxes I had in rifleman since I wasn't sure what to take with the CU coming out.

The problem with this combo is that commando has no specials. It uses the specials from other ranged professions, coupled with its own weapons to make it a good prof. Since Squad Leader has no offensive capability, and only gimped defensive capabilities, you would have no effective ranged attacks other than overcharge shot from marksman

A MSL needs to be able to stay alive for him to effectively assist the group... thus he needs to be hanging back out of hte fire fight, using his SL specials where needed and painting targets... I have been using my MSL/MRifles and it works well. Firstly coz you /volleyfire at the range of your weapon. Volley fire at 64m? Good deal. Then just hang back and pick on the targets at range and use your SL commands when necessary.

Speaking from a purely aesthetic position I'm MP/MSL with Explosives IV in Commando. I tried MC/MSL but for some reason it just didn't feel right. My character is the pistol toting LT you always see in wargames and such. I love it, although with a 477.98 DPS intimI get more attention from mobs than i'd like. And grenades are just cool.
