those are the two commands that need to be changed or just thrown out, i mean, rally can be useful as long as no one in the groups wants to do ANYTHING for a short period of time, and volley fire... i dont think ive ever even bothered with that.

I dont remember anyone ever complaining that Rally stopped combat specials. I know that a TK cant start to meditate if rallied, or you can train someone. But I was using combat spoecials frequently while rallied.

So, Training and Meditate....what else can not be done while Rallied?

You cannot harvest, rez or sit while rallied. So if you are fighting creatures do not rally. If you are fighting NPCs, you are fairly sure no one will die, and you are not near the end of the fight, then rallying won't hurt you. But if you rally right before the fight ends then people will be ticked because they cannot sit, meditate, etc etc. Pretty much anything that cannot be done while in a combat state cannot be done while rallied.

Rally and Volleyfire are pretty worthless in PvP. Against any creatures, ala Krayts or Kimogilas, they are pretty nice. I have used volleyfire against nests when doing group hunts and it works pretty good. It's sort of like painting one target and cutting through them one at a time. It's a good for that, but pretty useless for just about anything else. PvE they sort of split the difference. For some missions and camps (Corellian Corvette) they are worthless, but for lower level stuff they aren't too bad.

Is it me, or are these two commands some kind of bad joke? Rally seems to make every group member worthless asmammaries on a bull rancor ( inhibits specials) , and volleyfire only directs a single STANDARD attack ? lol... even with a full group... 20 standard hits from anything really aint that impressivewhen we're talkin pvp...

just wanted to see if anyone else feels this way.....

Rally is not a joke either. If you don't need to rez anyone it is a great skill in places like the tuskan fort or the corvette. Just because it blocks certain tasks does not mean it doesn't work - just be very careful when and how you use it (which I guess if you are an AFK SL bot you would never know when to use it)

Dear Flame Bait,

Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns over the Squad Leader profession in the game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. While there have been many concerns voiced over various "specials" that Squad Leaders might employ during combat, our studies have shown many specials retain value ifapplied correctly. While we agree that /formup is very useful for removingstun and dizzy from the group, we would like to remind you of the value of /retreat which speeds up the entire group except theSquad Leader. It would also be prudent to review what benefits /rally can provide. The /rallycommand increaases the to hit ability for all groupmembers. We would also like you to consider the value /boostmorale can provide to a heavily diseased group. But perhaps the most useful command is /sys which as I'm sure you know allows for easy communication between aSquad Leader and his group.

So while your concerns may be validfrom your myopic perspective, we would greatly appreciate you taking the time to learn how to play a profession before trashing it.

Thanks again for visting us, and we looks forward to owning you on a PvP field soon.

You're still at it Jounville..... That's good to see man. Elequant and to the point. Good on ya. But I have to ask........a long time ago (circa 4 Aug 03) in a galaxy far, far away (Scylla, I play my alt now most often on 'Chili'), is that the same -original(owner)- Blackferne I hunted around the Rebel outpost with? No response needed......Just wondering?

I will give you Volley fire since it is "one regular attack", but Rally is a great skill that i use often in groups.

I will tell you there have been times in the DWB where most of my party has gone LD and thru the use of Volley Fire i made ppl useful that were LD, it was pretty fun

I have since dropped most of the SQL trees and just keep 0/0/4/4 for the Boost, Rally and formup.

Coolness! Glad to see some tenacity out there. As opposed to: 'This game sucks - I'm going to quit and SOE will go out of business - blah-blah'.............As far as volloyfire and rally (orignal poster)- I've never had much success with either but I would venture to say that I haven't used them enough to run the numbers to see the diff. Either the groups I'm in are hunting dragons where a 10% increase in the damage given means an extra 2 min off the kill time (whoopy)/10% decrease in damage taken isn't enough or I'm playing PvP in the group and we own the other side and then the Jedi gank squad shows up. I do have a wish for the Squad Leader gods though - Group General ranged/melee accuracy. And something substantial too. 5% here or 10% there for a master total of %15 ain't enough. Max 20%?!? I think that's in-line. BUT(!): Non-stackable as far as have a group of 10 SL's means a +60% to accuracy mods. Only the one in charge. For my 2nd wish - step up the ranged/melee defenses by 5% too (at master).
