Thread: Best Weapons for the SL?

Now, which weapon do we all think works best for the Squad leader?


Let me be the first to say, Rifle ain't it. RM + SL = suicide.


But, I'm wondering why (as a SL) would I use a pistol over carbine? or if there is a better mix with one of the other proffesion specific weps. I doubt Melee weps would be usefull but I'd like to hear other's thoughts on this one.

Well i master rifleman and the other day i was doing Baz missions on dath and there were 2 lairs right next to eachother. one of the guys sent his tank in and they all surrounded it i shot twice (i shoot about once every 1.5s) and killed EVERY SINGLE ONE SL xp as follows


2 lairs = 8 critters


8 x 8300 = 66400SL xp in 1.5 s not bad i would say


did you say RM + SL = suicide.

Yea I'm a rifleman climbing up the sniper tree and a squadleader and im fine.

Hmm, I am a rifleman and was thinking of giving it up because all my RM skills EAT my Mind ham right up. Gives me no room to use my Squad leader skills. When I use my T21 I get maybe 6 shoots and I'm OOM (out of mind).


Am I doing something wrong that you guys aren't or vice versa?

What I think you are probably doing wrong is actually using the SL skills...


I am a TKA and for the most part, I can't afford theminds costs of theSL skillseither.


I think you should play the class you enjoy best that compliments SL. Things keep changing and who knows what class will be rockin in the future. Just look at Commandoes. Just try to have fun is my advice.

from what i understand alot of SLs are pistoleers because there is little cost to HAM to use pistol skills. i to am a pistoleer, but as i suffer from and over powering obsesion with anything that relates to Lightning, i have been considering switching over to comando and learning to use teh lightning beam cannaons.... wheither or not this is a good idea i dont know, but i thought it would be worth a shot

I'm starting to think the Commando weapons would rock for a squad leader. I'd have to check but between /steady aim and our passive bonuses, we'd be significantly more accurate. That and since SL xp is based off our dmg, we'd lvl like mad (although we will eventually cap out). One downside of this is that in PvP Commando's are soon to become what everyone targets, after BH and CM of course.


Since I've ruled out Rifles, I'mhoping one of you guys and gals would help me figgure out what the -best- wep for SL would be.

I'm a squad leader/ carbineer... knockdown with volleyfire is a good combination, if they ever make volleyfire remotely decent...

We need more focus fire attacks period, whats the point of having Fire Related specials if you can't get a whole squads worth of dammage focused on a single target.

I'm a squad leader/pistoleer combo. I was lucky to get all three of my pistols (dx2,fwg5,scout blaster) sliced for 30-32% dmg increase. For instance my dx2 is now 122-198, 2.7 and 21.% wound. Place a 16,30 dmg powerup and now you have 141-262. My fwg5 does 354 max dmg with the powerup. I like the pistoleer cause its easier to heal you action pool then mind, you need that for your specials. I wish we would have them more worth the mind xp cause it is cool when you click Steady Aim, and you shut "Focus squad, use your instincts". Using sys messages in red text is my way around volleyfire until it gets a little better. Hey SL may be small but the server will respect you for using such a class that has great potential, but unfortunately does not live up to its profession name. Just roleplaying SL is fun to me, my guild loves my presense and cheer when i arrive to take command. That is what the core of SL is all about, your friends/soldiers having faith in your abilities, following you into hell if they have to.

Carbine and heavy weapons. No doubt about it.



Carbine has the ability in just *one* tree that gives you bonuses for accuracy while moving AND knockdown target from range. Excellent to support your group in big fights.


commando weapons let you carry the big punch weapons... and also, the launcher pistol and flamethrower are excellent weapons to let your group charge or retreat from PvP engagements... dont understimate the effect of huge explosions, massive smoke and fps drop have on those you are fighting against. *grin*
