Thread: Who uses an E5 carbine?
- one factory made, right from the vendor. Competes well with other unenhanced carbines (despite the high SAC) and by now is much more worn down than on the picture.
- one krayted E5, i only use it when i expect things to be really tough, so it's still almost as good as new. There are many people reporting their carbines in the carbineer forum, but i saw few which can compete with this E5... and my tissues were just slightly above average, as far as i remember.

If you're on Chimaera, give me a shout and I'll give you the wp for a good place for intimidators. 315 base DPS, 5k cost :-)
I use an E-5 and love it. Best Carbine I've ever owned.
I'm MSL/Master Carbineer, so it makes sense.
One thing to take into consideration is that there is no difference between the E-5 and the E11 Mk II used by Master Carbineers. I've compared several right after the CU and couldn't see a single point of difference. I've been informed by my Weaponsmith there is no difference in resource type or amounts when crafting them either.
I guess I carry the E-5 over the E11 Mk II simply cause we're the only ones who can....and there's so very, very, very few of us....at least until the Publish 9 SL Revamp. ![]()

I have an E5 carbine, base dps is around 315 and cost me 5K, accuracy mod is 5, it's not much better than the Nym slugthrower I have but I prefer the look and sound of the E5. Also use the hand cannon that is theintimidator, also keep a good intimidator for special occasions.
I was looking this forum to see whether squad leaders used their certified weapons. I find it strange that in all the posts in this thread, the main stat used as a measure of the weapon is DPS.
DPS, in my opinion, is a statwhere too much emphasis is placed upon it. Excluding enhanced weapons, a high DPS can only be achieved by experimenting on speed and damage and nothing to the action costs. This maybe okay if you spam your basic attack (which DPS is based on), however if you wish to use the more high damaging specials, then fairly quickly, your action bar will have run dry.
Without going into too much detail, i had carried out several test with a high DPS pistol (125-271 dmg, 1.94 spd116 SAC) and a low SAC pistol (126-272 dmg, 2.14 spd, 89 SAC). I spammed 3 high powered shots until the action bar had depleted, the damage output from each shot was almost identical, however the 116 SAC only lasted19 seconds, whereas the 89SAC lasted 53 seconds and this was using food/spices.
In conclusion, i believe that a slighly slower weapon with low SAC is far more desirable than a weapon with high DPS.
Take a look at my beauty. SAC is at 80 and that's no coicidence...

Your testing indicates that you didn't check for the damage you inflicted within a certain time. A faster weapon of course drains SAC quicker, but it also applies the damage more often. If you use mostly ranged shot (as many people do), DPS is a very deciding value. If you prefer to have a slower special (like legshot in my case) with very high damage modifier as default attack, the speed seems to matter less. (Though, weapon speed supposedly affects the cooldown of all abilities. But i "feel"that it matters less when you use these specials, didn't test it out yet due to lack of motivation and stop-watch.)
