Thread: Group Waypoint on Test Center
Hmm. This group waypoint thing is something we have been screaming for since launch, so I think I'm happy. I'm not sure what to make of what you reportyet except to say:
A) Nice of them to stealth this in with no notification to our community?
B) If this is available to any old group leader, and is not an SL-exclusive feature I think I'm a little bent.
This is an awesome feature, but I'd really like to see this as Squad Leader feature only.
And I agree with the whole needing to jump with the waypoint aspect. And maybe start with the first mission, too.
Where I see a problem with this, though, is solo groups. You'll end up seeing other people's missions after the first person in the group has completed theirs (not really a Squad Leader problem though).
REALLY like where this is headed.

Found this on Today's Test Center notes..
- Goggles: Special Edition Goggles should no longer destroy themselves on valid characters.
- Goggles: Using the /seGoggles command will return your Special Edition Goggles if they were lost.
- Groups: When in a group, a waypoint to the nearest group mission is displayed. The nearest mission is the mission closest to the most people in the group.
- Groups: Group member status bars will continue to report position information, even if the player is on the other side of the world. If the group member is on another planet, the planet name is displayed in the status bar.
- Shadows: Fixed rendering issues with simple shadows at low angles.
- UI: Radar dots should "flicker" much less.
- UI: Overhead map now tries to space out text.
Please post any issues that you find with these items in this thread.
Thanks!

I "think" the Group Waypoint has been in the game for ages but it was bugged, so in a way they didn't need to inform you guys because all they were doing was fixing a year old bug and not adding anything new.

I imagine now that we have a correspondent the information stream will widen up a little. I'll defer to Irott on that. In the meantime please do investigate further. Thanks for playing on Test Center, BTW. I found it rather painful last time I tried (back before the Player City patch).

And as of last night it is working fine, so when a persons mission, currently displayed on the groupwaypoint, updates for that group member it is updated on the groupwaypoint too, so you don't need to figure out before hand whos mission it is in case you have to follow the group member if groupwaypoint does not update. A group of 3 of us with 2 missions each tried it and we only had to follow the groupwaypoint, and I was the leader of the group but I was not using my master Squad Leader toon at the time.

I'll probably be in the minority here but the two new waypoint monitors, the arrows pointing towards group members and the group mission waypoint, are too damn good to be SL exclusive.
I don't think it should be SL exclusive, just SL-group exclusive. As in the SL isn't the only one to get the WP, you just need the SL in the group. Gives more of a purpose to a profession that doesn't give a whole lot of bonuses. And really it makes sense.
I don't have a problem with the closest mission being seen by everyone as a group waypoint for all groups. It's not the most efficient way to run missions however. I would like to see us get the ability to see everyone's active waypoints, and give us the ability to show everyone else in the group a waypoint we choose. This way we can choose the order in which we do the missions, or set up a meeting spot for everyone. That part should definately be Squad Leader exclusive.
