Thread: SL Titles

How did I know something like this was coming? I was going to post this at work before all of this stuff happened but work got busy and I wasn't even able to even check the forums until I got home. I saw that 58 new entries were there and knew something was up. Anyways, I found the thread of what all that's going on. Well, the reason I ask that question is because I was going to post a little note about titles. I play with my MSL title on because I want people who just "think" SL is broken to see that someone might possibly know something that they don't. As such, maybe it's not as broke as they "think" it is, if someone is going around with the Master title on. I don't PvP yet, I may, I'm not sure, just depends on if I can find a good group on Kette to play with. Now, for the enemy, I already know who...*grins and waves to Loki*. Now what I'd like to do, is get a group of people to just run around with and doing whatever. That way, anyone who sees a Squad Leader and his/her group, may know that something is definitly up with the profession. I think now, because of us being one of the least played professions, I may just have to go combatant on a constant basis, just to show people that we're alive and kicking, though not well. Recently I was considering changing my tag on SL, now I'm not going to. I'm alive and kicking, not dead and I do see a reason to play MSL and that's not going to change. This has strengthened my resolve to not respec out of the profession.

Good stuff. Carefull though, you just might like pvp and get hooked on it. I'd say half the pvp battles I've been in I've never fired a shot, mostly running my SL and MCM abilities. Your team might not notice that little edge in defense and offense right away, but they'l start to notice that haveing a Squad Leader around is handy and that your profession might be undervalued andleft out to dry, but not dead.

If you're gonna talk SL Titles, why do we get the title Commissar at SLxx4x?
Dictionary.com(http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=commissar) defines Commissar as:
1.
A. An official of the Communist Party in charge of political indoctrination and the enforcement of party loyalty.
B. The head of a commissariat in the Soviet Union until 1946.
2. A person who tries to control public opinion.

So does SWG Support Communism? If not, then why do we have the titlea of a Cummunist party official. They could easily replace the word "Commissar" with "Commander."

Its probably just because Commissars are usualy assosiated with Morale and Leadership

Wow, from us being the least played profession to Communism. Well, with 4 Combat Skills that benefit us, 6 that benefit the group and the last 5 (going straight SL, with nothing else) going into the Scouting profession, no wonder why they picked it. We are more beneficial to the whole than to the individual. Just like Communism. They don't work for themselves they work for thier country.

Anyways, politics aside from this post of mine, it's amazing how this has gotten off base. Not that I'm annoyed or anything this thread was initially started to get people to really reconsider using Commissar and the like and to get people who are Master's in our profession to start using the Master tag. To draw attention to ourselves and the profession (in the good way, maybe getting some Dev love). Now I know Commissar and the rest ARE SL tags, but anyone can be those. I have seen every a lot of people put SL-4400, 0440, 0044, 0404, 4040, but it is the rare breed that you see with the Master Squad Leader title over their heads.

I use the master tag. The others just dont fit me very well anyway, plus most people dont know enough about other professions to know what the other titles aside from master pertain to. Commissar sounds kinda, I dont know, ruffly shirts and funny hats to me.

I love the tag "Field Commander," as do a lot of people looking at my toon ("Hey! A 'Field Commander!' What profession's that? Nice title!").

I only use the Master tag when I am specifially trying to advertise or make a point.

Otherwise, I'm usually a Field Commander.

I don't see what the problem is here. I am a political officer. Every Imperial Command has one. Sure I can lead in the battle and all, but my job is about making the other side run and cry to mommy, and making sure my side does their job or "else". Just think of me as the Emperor on your shoulder.

Its a big boost to their morale.
