Thread: Only CHers can control 3 Faction troopers?

PLEASE READ DEVs.


The last thing that we had been told is that ATSTs, along with other faction pets, are considered PETS and that we will only be able to call out one Pet (either Faction or Creature) after patches. On the other hand, if you are a Master Creature Handler, then you will be able to pull out and have 3 creatures or 3 faction pets at a time, including having 3 AT-STs. Therefore, to use more than one faction pet at a time (i.e. Rebel Commando, Stormtrooper) you have to be a creature handler.


There was a long, long string of messages after the dev's post regarding how much this new idea was not liked. Nevertheless, we never got any feedback to the specific issue of the number of faction petscalled being related to your creature handler skill. The idea that you have to be a Master Creature Handler, with a rank of private, to control 3 stortroopers is not logical. But a Master Commando or Squad Leader, with a rank of Surface Marshal, can only call one trooper?


A response to this post would be greatly appreciated.


For the fellow players out there.. please show your support by voting on the following:


WHIICH IS BETTER:


A) The old system of 3 faction pets for anyone


B) Creature Handlers can have up to 3 faction pets (i.e. stormtroopers, rebel troopers, ATSTs) and EVERYONE else can have only 1.


C)Number of Faction Pets should be based soley on RANK

I think that the master CH should only be allowed to control 3 pets only, not faction pets. Master SLs and commandos should be allowed to control 3 types of pets, any level. Everyone else should be allowed only 1 unless their rank is higher IE non SL or commando at captain can command an ATST.

I definitely have to agree along the lines of 3 to squad leaders and commandos, 1 to other aligned soldiers. There is a SEVERE difference between creature pets and faction SOLDIERS. Now, if the recruiters started handing out Rebel- or Imperial-trained cowardly gurrecks or rock beetles, then the Creature Handlers can be responsible for all pets.


Seriously, though, every time I see a rancor or graul mauler in town, I want to shoot it. It ruins my 'Star Wars' feeling. I have SPECIFICALLY avoided the creature handler profession because it is the abomination of this game. Give those of us who still believe we are playing in Star Wars a break, especially the squad leaders. I could care less if I ever lead a group with rancors, but let me lead some urban commandos to victory over the Empire's vile forces! Ermm... let me rephrase that.


OK, at my current pathetic level of skill and in terms of WAY overpowered Imperial forces, let me lead at least two soldiers so I can kill ONE stormtrooper!

Everybody is assuming that CH will be able to call 3 faction pets. I read a dev post that said everybody can only have out 1 faction pet. CH will the appropriate skills will be able to have 1 faction pet and up to 2 creature pets out at one time, or 3 creature pets. I don't play on and I haven't seen anybody post about CH being able to have more than 1 faction pet out at a time.

NO ONE should be able to control 3 ATST's....PERIOD. sorry, its bad enough as it is that most imps can solo stuff that even master CH's cant with a single ATST. I like the idea they are being pulled from PvE....but it still makes no sense that sum1 should be able to control THREE of them.


secondly.... i dont want SL's to be able to command more than 1 pet. We arent a stupid p-o-k-e-m-o-n class. And i GURANTEE you...that if SL's have the ability to have 3 ATST's or whatever...that TONS of peopel pick up SL JUST to be able to do that. YOu may doubt me, but theres PLENTY of people on my server who take proffs just to be uber, the flavor of the week, etc. You make SL's able to do this, and you will trash everything us REAL squad leaders want to be.

Panzer what part of this are you not getting? NO ONE SHOULD HAVEMORE THAN ONEATST. PERIOD. I agree with you on that. But since when did Sigfreid and Roy know anything about running a combat military squad?!?! you seem to have a big fear about ATSTs but that's not the arguement here. ATSTs are a different thing all together. what we're talking about, or at least I'm talking about is just normal faction troops. I'm not even calling them pets, because they're not. they're litle privates that have been assigned to me for good service. that's how I look at them. CH's spent their xp points to get the ability to control animals. I have spent mine pursueing a career in military leadership. why shouldn't I get a benifit from it?

I don't think Commandos should be able to control the same number of faction pets as a Squad Leader....aren't they strong enough and aren't we weak enough already?


That and I don't think it makes perfect sense....maybe they should get two pets....but not the same as profession dedicated to leading squads.

no one should have more access to faction pets. The ONLY exception would possibly be if you base it on rank.

Basing it on Rank is the best option in my opinion. I mean if you are going to work your way up to get that rank you should get some sort of benefit. And there is always the reason that SLs are group leaders not factional NPC handlers.

The way I understand it from a Dev post I read is this:


Yes only CH's will be able to control multiple pets - including faction pets (including AT-ST's.)


HOWEVER - the total pet levels is still in effect. Meaning, even a Master CH will only be able to control a total of xx pet levels at once. The total number will be determined with the CH patch. But all indications are that this number will not exceed +80 to +100 levels at once. Meaning the total pets out at once cannot exceed that many TOTAL levels. So a CH will be able to control say three level 22 Grand Wrix' - but NOT THREE level 125 AT-ST's as every Faction pet has an associated level.


I think that clears it up - if this is actually how they implement it.

AT-ST's are going to be the black sheep of the pets... Anyone will only be able to have one at a time. This is the AT-ST change they are putting in. The creature/pet rebalance is a little different.
