Thread: Just picked up Master Smuggler and had someone ask me to slice his weapons doing the damage *tri

It's been said to be an exploit, and I've seen people banned for it. So I'd say stay away from it.
Anything that doesn't normally work that creates an unfair advantage for one player b/c of the actions of another is an exploit.

Sly .... these people are too smart to request a powerup slice or explain how to do it in spatial.
They request a "Special Slice", they ask for a "Guaranteed damage slice" ... NOTHING you could really use to report them. Not to mention that I am not into the reporting others thing when someone wants to get the best possible slice for his weapon.
Phoenix ... I dont know a SINGLE smuggler on any server that has been banned for powerup slicing. Which is a shame. I knew quite a few that have been banned for double slicing (of which some claim to have done it accidently a few times). Powerup slicing is labelled as an exploit, but there are so many exploits in this game that SWG would lose about 1/3 of its player base if every exploit is enforced as a bannable offense.
So ... can you confirm that that smuggler has been banned at a time significantly AFTER the double slicing bannings ? I very much doubt that he has been banned for powerup slicing - but I would /cheer if it has happened.

Real simple. Slice like you always do (Pick Slice on the item's Menu, Apply Clamp, Cut Wire, Cut Wire) and you won't have a problem.

Within hours of making Master, and before having read about the trick in question, one of my very first customers traded me a weapon and trick item. I told him I couldnt slice the item (after trying to get a radial on it). He went on to explain the trick.
I immediatly declined - might have been a new Master Smuggler but not a stupid one! He went on with:
whine whine whine everyone does it you know whine whine whine you had better get a few crates of dodgy item in **edit** **edit** **edit** my mate in the guild will do it but he isnt on
Basically this guy tried to make me accept it was a trick in common usage.
I still didnt do it and threatened to destroy his expensive item unless he took it back immeditaly and got the hell away from me.
Knowledge of the trick is certainly out there in the general population and I am sure there are a hell of a lot of people using it. Sadly, us honest sorts who wont are being left behind. Request for a "special" slice seem to go in waves - a couple in a week, sometimes a day - and then nothing for a while.
And I can see how you might be involved in a double slice by accident - but the damage slice is totally consentual and I suppose it it typical of SOE's damage limitation stategy to take the knee jerk and easy reaction rather than fix a broken product.

The thing is that whenever you set your weapon for more damage it's a better deal.
a master rifleman shoots at the speed cap on almost all his specials, a master rifle/marksman hits even more at the cap.
a master pistoleer with BH pistols 3 or pistoleer 0/0/0/3 BH pistols 4shoots ALL pistol specials (even last ditch) at the speed cap.
If these people can find ways to asure themselves of a better deal on thier weapons they will do it, I mean honestly on my server the diffrence between a max speed sliced Geo and a ok damage sliced geo is 800+k

I'm having fun playing the game, fortunately I run my own honnest business, and it goes well.
I never got asked for such "guaranteed" slice, if I would, I'd report the guy -whoever it is- and welcome him in my ignore list.
WS want to make money uh ? well it's not like they can't make money with legal ways already right ?
k I don't know anyone who got banned for doing this (although I got a little idea about who's doing it for months now), actually, we're so few Master smugglers on eclipse atm, I don't even know other master smugglers (people tend to take only slicing 4 these days), even tho I can see one ocasionally.
but when SOE will start to ban people for this, no doubt they'll ban smugglers, sellers, and users. and I don't want to screw my account for another guy to make "money".

And of those 800k at least 100 k go to the smuggler in gratitude for a 30+ % damage slice.
Now imagine what you earned for a 1000 weapon factory run.
I did such jobs in the past with "normal" slicing. Now WS dont even LOOK in my direction. They want guaranteed slices. They want to make money.

Dont think so. Even during the time of the double slice bannings to my knowledge only smugglers were banned, not sellers or users. And for PU slicing no one has been banned for a year. And thats the annoying thing.
And after hearingabout the different explanatation given by CSRs to newbie smugglers I tend to say " no bannings, just fix the darn exploit" as there ARE new smugglers out there that asked the CSRs and got told "Its ok".
No wonder people only take Slicing 4 instead of Master ... if you are a neutral smuggler and not a Colonel selling FP, tree 1 and master is useless and tree 4 is almost as useless as many people dont buy spices anymore (and you could get spices 4 , make a 1000 muon run and drop spices again). And Slicing 3 combined with PU exploit allows the newbies to slice better than us Masters.

Well I have been a smuggler for some weeks now and I never had someone ask me to do the powerup slice, although I know how it works. I haven't used it yet and I will not be using it either. I don't do smuggler for the money really, if I wan't money I just go hunt some mokks or janta's for 3 hours. I took on smuggler for the fun and soonI will have my smuggler supply en spice vendor up and running.
So don't do this exploit, cause the smuggler will be banned for it when they solve it cause he performed the exploit

wow, glad I read this post, I learned the pwrup slice by accident, I only slice for my own alt account (a MWS) I did not know it was an exploit....oops my bad, did a couple weapons that way and thought it just destroyed the pwrup, did not know it made it better, did not do it since cause I thought it just wasted a pwrup. Now I know that it made them better. I'll be sure and watch out now, did not know at all.....lol.
