Thread: templete advise

I am trying to build an effective pvp templete and I was wondering if people could give me some advise. My current templete is master smuggler and I am almost to master fencer. Dropping any of smuggler is not an option as it is my chosen profession and I love it. I am willing to sacrifice the skill points to keep it. So, please do not suggest anything that involves dropping smuggler, it will not happen. Yeah I know that I could make a much better pvp character without it, but I need to build a good templete while working around master smuggler. Since I am almost done with fencer, assume that my current templete is:

Master Fencer/Master Smuggler
This templete leaves me with an extra 52 skill points. It is these 52 points that I do not know what to do with. I was considering going for Master Brawler for the added defense and specials. Or I was thinking of dumping all 52 into TKA. Of course I couldn't get to master with that but I could get a large chunk of the profession. I was also considering some pistoleer since I already have dirty fighting with smuggler and I would then be able to use the geo blaster. I want to make optimum use of all skill points. If I do Master Smuggler/MasterFencer/Master Brawler I would be left with an extra 18 skill points. What should I do with those if I choose that route? Maybe pistoleer stances 3 for geo pistol and defense, and to add a little ranged power?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am kind of lost right now. I am not too experienced in pvp so I could really use some help. Any advise from my fellow smugglers?

With Master Smuggler you will never be a great pvp i'm afraid. You coud try taking Master TK and boosting its ranged defense with fencer if you want to just be melee.

If you plan to use pistols in PvP, then you'll pretty much have to pickup some Gunfighter. I'd say Pistol Tech should be the first on your list from Gunfighter. That'll give you more defences to stack onto Fencer, and the Genosian Blaster at Tech 2. If you care about speed, then hit the Combat xp branch, Pistol Stances while going through everything else. If you don't, then only pick up the first branch, then go for your Dodge and Accuracy branches. If you don't wanna use pistols, I'd suggest picking up TKA just for the Meditation line, as you can meditate, no matter what weapon you wield. Smuggler/TKA/Gunfighter is the most common, and exceptionally usefull, but, you do limit yourself to damage type when Melee is brought into play.

There's various other combos, and you should probably figure out what you want to do first, then, seek out help when you know the stuff you wanna do.

Remember, its not what skills you have, or don't have, its knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and using both effectively.

I would say that pistols without the Bounty Hunter pistol tree are pretty much useless in PvP. You just wont hit any of the PvP defense stackers otherwise. But by all means take the tech line for the def or maybe the first in the dodge line to max your fencer dodge skill.

wrong lol you can hit defence stackers easily as TK/pistoleer/smuggler..go read the triple threat PvP guide

imo if you want to keep master smuggler there is no better possible template than triple threat

get your hands on some speedtapes (corsec gloves help too at +3 pistol speed, they cost appr. 50k)

fencer is completely useless in pvp unless you have a 300+ max damage baton (preferably even a 400+)

I agree that using fencer for attack is pretty hopeless in pvp. I am a triple master and it does have its uses, but, a rifleman is going to give you serious problems because of the low ranged defence. TKM is good IF you can get close enough to use it (I generally try to get in close and knock down - then run off while the rifle or real ranged people finish them off). I guess its just practice but you will have problems against a BH spamming eye shot or a rifleman spamming headshot because you just cant compete with that with just pistoleer.
