Hiya all,
My Name is Shaidown, I've been a Zabrak on Lowca since early February of '04. And knowing then that I would be a smuggler, I looked around the other profs to see what I liked to assist me on the way. I Mastered Smuggler around May and haven't looked back.
Just some peronal opinions that I have acquired over the past year:
Smuggler can be the most fulfilling prof in the game, if you know how to play it (IMHO), however, of all the profs, we deserve the most content. Docs heal, BHs search and kill, Rangers...oh, yeah, and TKM beat the crap out of stuff with their hands. I want to /smuggle too
Feign Death is a great Skill, and I don't mind other profs using it, but not to the almost exploit amount that jedi and BH do. I like the skill and don't want it nerfed.
There are too many "darn" jedi in the game, perma-death was a great idea, as long as it accounted for extenuating circumstances such as lag and other things that the devs generally don't admit.
If /lastditch is gonna have such a crappy delay, even at M Pistoleer, then it needs to be way more powerful.
I remember WAY back when Sony and Lucasarts were trying to sell this game-concept to the public in Game Magazines and such. The examples they used the most and was immmediately latched onto were these. 1st, that Jedi were supposed to be rare and why would you want to be one, as the rebels couldn't afford to be around a light jedi because the empire would hunt you down, and imperials wouldn't want to be around a dark jedi, because all the rebels AND imperials would try to hunt you down. 2nd, Players would be able to be Bounty Hunters and Smugglers. They specifically used the concept that a smuggler would get a smuggling job and if they screwed it up, a player BH would receive the job to hunt them down.<-----This is the issue that most bothers me. SMugglers were a selling point of this game, and they were never even designed the way they were advertised.
I didn't want this to be a complaint post, sorry.
So, to conclude, I love this prof and will never leave it, however much content we don't actually have.
Oh, just a few notes on other discussions. I charge a base 10k for a slice +5k for 30% or higher, -5k for 20% or lower. Faction Points are 125 cred/per, and I don't PvP......much.

Welcome to the board.
You shouldn't be surprised SOE advertised something that's completely the opposite in-game. That's how they work. Hell, they do it with every publish.

Unfortunately, yeah, I know.
and after 11 months or so, I think Ive done a good job of NOT getting down about it, but look at it this way.
Months ago when I Mastered I remember being REALLY happy, and telling my entire guild and generally having a VERY good day. But now its just who I am, but not what I am.
We had a guildmate reach MBH and He's still happy about it 2 weeks later. Just the jedi hunt and messing with different weapon/skill combos are a constant conversation with him.
It just seems that, yanno, you see a smuggler and you wonder why he is still doing it, cause the only reason to keep it is cause you just love the idea that your char is a smuggler, regardless whether you actually get to smuggle yet. But with other profs, when you master it means something. When a Doc Masters, they can start to buff. When a Smith Masters, they can start to make and sell weapons. Even when a Dancer/Musician Masters, they get increased tips and can do the good mind-buffs. But When a SMuggler Masters, there is NO new content, just.......better slices/faction-discount...and....?

Ironically, I make quite a living smuggling faction perks (mostly Imperial Tables and Data Terminals) to rebels.
And I smuggled an entire Imperial Forward HQ from Corellia to Naboo the other day...and died in the process, since I didn't wait for my overt status to wear off before I tried to fly out of Cnet. (I now park my ship at Doabra Guerfel (sp?)).
Is it "Smuggling" in the truest sense? No, not really. But it's as close as I can get right now.
