Has anyone tried out Master Combat Medic, Master Smuggler?

I have been thinking of switching frm Master Smuggler / Master Pistol / 4000 CM to MCM MS 4000 Pistol just for the pistol speed. I would still cap out speed... just defense will be down. I will still be able to use my pistol speed, my hardest hitting special, Body Shot, is still there... but I can't use my trando suppressor but it isn't necessarily my best gun....

I am wanting to do this so I can drop CM down to 4000 on my Alt and pick up Master BH so I can use a proton carb...

What do you all think?>

Yes I'm using it now, and it works.

Root a mob then burn & deasease it sit back and watch it die.

A lot of people think the Concussion shot is bugged I'm not so sure, its the only real crowd controll in the game.

It is bugged. Concussion Shot is supposed be a disabling "mesmerize" effect thatbreaks on damage (exactly like paralyze, but significantly longer). When it is fixed you will no longer be able to DoT stuff to death while it lays rooted via Concussion Shot.


That said MCM/MSmuggler will work for now, but you'll probably want to switch to pistoleer if you want tospam roots. I highly doubt smuggler is going to keep Concussion Shot the way it is.

Since you guys are talking about crowd control.


I am MS, MCarb, Pistol xx44 ( the xx4x) I found that since I pup all my guns it doesnt matter, but I get intimidate shot which is great for dealing with ranged mobs and extra defence when I use my Krayt XT.

As far as DoTs go I don't know if you guys actually tried CM or not, but maybe except fire, everything else is useless. First week of respec = BH, tried using Torso Shot (which is probably the most powerful non CM dot, did nothing, just an annoying animation that makes it so you look like a sponge being sqeezed) DOTs now take way too much time.

Apparently SOE likes to do everything by suprise now. I remade a week before CU hit (the actual hit), thinking that they were releasing 2 weeks later, and playing SOE games for 3 years now, probably extended to 3 weeks. So if I were you guys I'd stick with something you know is going to work.

I've been running a MS/MCM/0400 Com template since the CU went live and I do enjoy it. The biggest drawback is in defense, as it doesn't compare with most of the heavy combat templates. in PvP hoever it is pretty powerful, being able to manage most professions with combinations of roots, DOTs, and healing for teh win. Biggest problems arise from other ranged professions since a lot of the CM states require >20m to apply..


In PvE it works well in groups, but my main hurdle is handling the new aggro system. With current AI allowing mobs to not need line of sight, but requiring you to, it makes it ver difficult. I was in the Avatar platform the other night and was pretty much useless in a group with 2 tanks. If I did any sort of heal the entire room would shoot me, and it wouldn't matter if i ducked in to a hall with a closed door or anything. With low defenses I went down fairly quickly though I admit to not having the best armor. FD helps alleviate a lot of aggro, but I saw a train come from about 400m away, 5 room over come specifically after me when I did a bacta spray on my group.


I still enjoy the template and would more if Commando AE worked as it should, I've been actually toying with the idea of doing the pistoleer line you mentioned, but haven't done so yet.


I highly recommend giving it a try, and would be interested to hear what you think.

I tried MCM/MSmug(+ Novice Pistoleer)with my alt, who is primarily a combat-support toon,and found it to be a bit lacking. I love diseases and fire and whatnot (former Commando here ), but the problem is there are a LOT of repetitive supportspecials.Both have a snare, a root, and an attack-speed slowdown (whatever that would be called), and it just felt like I had 2 profs that pretty much did a lot of the same thing. I switched back to MDoc / MSmug / Novice Pistoleerand I find that to be a more versatile & useful combo. (Yea Yea Doc is gimped right now butproperly played is still very useful.) I mean sure DoT's are cool and all but that's pretty much the only thing different between Smug-combat and CM-combat--even the range (pistol range & cm range) is the same. I just didn't need 2 different roots, 2 different snares, 2 different attack-slowdowns (disarms?), etc, when i could beremoving states, curing diseases, & buffing as well as rooting, snaring, and disarming. Even though fire & disease is wicked fun, Smug & CM togetheroverlap waaay too much & as suchfeel like a waste of skill points.

I have yet to find the CROWD in our control. I give us a 3 at most for CC atm. If they fox concussion shot to its description they need to shorten the cooldown timer or we drop even to a 2...



We couldn't play SWG without Tiggs. Now we can =)
