Thread: *NEW* Players can make their own bounties!

I would like to make the following suggestion and see everyone's input/feedback:


Believe it or not, many players despise at least 1 Jedi. Yet, many are too weak to do anything about it. On the bright side, they have plenty of cash. Here's my solution:


Players should be allowed to talk with a smuggler and negotiate a hit on any Jedi. The smuggler would be the middle-man for players and bounty hunters. After meeting with the player, say the Smuggler decides the particular bounty is worth 300k (Higher than terminal bounties forcommission and since it is a customized hit).


They negotiate payment terms... an escrow system would be nice to have in place, but when you're working with the mafia (smugglers) there isn't really any guarantee your work will be done.


The Smuggler then contacts fellow Bounty Hunters via a new chat tab/auction screen/ or just through normal communication. The smuggler sells the kill to the Bounty Hunter for say 250k. A 25k increase over terminals.


The mission is transferred to the bounty hunter and everything is carried out as normal from there.


In the end, everyone is happy:
1. Smuggler makes an easy 50k by being a middle-man.

2. Player is happy because Jedi is eliminated.

3. Bounty Hunter is satisfied with a kill for 250k.

Maybe instead of having to communicate with the bounty hunters directly we could slice the BH terminal, make a payment to the terminal equal to thebounty, and then the BHs get the mission from the terminal just like they would for any other contract.


The biggest problem I see with this whole idea is its potential for griefing of other players. There would have to be some limit as to how often a player can have a bounty issued against them. Otherwise, some unscrupulous individual, such as myself, could put out a high bounty on whoever it is they dislike and make their life a constant hell.


Other than that this sounds like a fun idea. One that would add some much needed content to our profession.

Oooh, never thought of slicing the terminal and adding it. Sounds even better!


As for griefing of other players, I scroll through the terminals and see hundreds of Jedi on there as of now...

It's already fairly easy to get a few BHs with the same Jedi bounty, just takes about 30minutes max of scrolling through the terminal.


Maybe implement a system where you can only add a Jedi to the terminal if he's not on there already by another Smuggler. And then a 5 day timespan has to lapse between each custom kill? That sounds more than fair to me.

Here's another idea to keep from spamming the same Jedi...


Make the doctor profession useful again. A doctor must collect a DNA sample of the Jedi which he can sell for a very high price.

Rich player pays Smuggler to buy the DNA.

Smugglerbuys the DNA Sample from the doctor and places bounty on terminal.

Bounty Hunter accepts mission and then must track down the smuggler to get the DNA sample.


DNA can only be collected by doctors if Jedi has recently used powers. Make other stipulations to make it hard for the DNA to be extracted.


I hate all the NPC stuff. They should make players work together better. When you're in the mafia, it's all about connections... you gotta know the doctor, the smuggler, some rich guy that wants a Jedi dead, and then the Bounty Hunter.


I think this should be the only way to kill a Jedi. Get rid of the automated system of them just showing up randomly on terminals.

LOL - if that were the case - I'd have a bookcase full of "Jedi Samples" and sell them to the highest BH bidder.

but why stop at only jedi? just leta player contact a smuggler, the smuggler slices a terminal and if succesfull, the smuggler can fill in all information.


information required:


- Name of the person that places the bounty(the non-smuggler, non-target player)

- Name of the Target.

- The amount of credits involved.

- Reason why the target must be killed.


set a limit of a bounty being placed onone's head to once a week. the bounty will be on the terms for x days(the number of days increases with the skill of a smuggler?).


Novice Smuggler - less capable of hiding the fact that it's a sliced bounty - 2 days

tier 1-4 of Slicing - As the smuggler increases his/her skill in slicing, he/she also gets more capable in hiding the fact that it's sliced - +1 day per skill.

Master Smuggler - at this level the smuggler is most capable of hiding it and these things are nearly routine: 7 days


another suggestion is to have it done by an NPC, or at the terminal itself. the longer you want the bounty to exist on the terms, the more expensive it gets. With this system, you'd have set an amount which the BH gets, and it automatically adds the costs of placing the bounty.(1k a day?) You will get to see the final price before accepting the bounty.


Personally,i'd be proud to have a 1 mill bounty on my ass/head, but im too much of a nice guy to have much enemies



edit: oh, and i realize that this system can cause alot of griefing, and u can't hunt targets u placed urself
