Everywhere but here...I'm just gonna repost my reponse on Intrepid instead of having this discussion a few hundred times. But yeah...not happy.
BOOO!! HISS! BOOO! on the Wookiee Rage Expansion. No offense to the wookiees, and don't get me wrong, I've been saying for a while that they need to add some species' home planets. But I didn't think that would require an entire EXPANSION. I mean, and perhaps this is selfish, I was REALLY hoping for a Criminal Expansion. But here's why:
1) It's the only system left they haven't added in.It's the only system left TO add in from the old list of systems except for Player Missions.
2) We've got a GCW revamp coming. We're working on the CURB. The smuggler revamp comes after. What BETTER time to FINALLY add a Criminal faction? Heck an entire EXPANSION of crime? Hutt space, and Black Sun and all the trimmings. I'd pay 50 bucks for THAT.
And besides, this is kinda a lame expansion isn't it? Last time we got SPACE! Space ships, space combat, lots of new places to explore, four new professions. New loot. This time? We get A planet. Which will be a LOT like the OTHER planets. Lots of trees, NPC's, missions and critters. That's great and all, but that's not all that super duper.
Plus, cybernetic limbs? Now I'll probably get one of those spoofy eye pieces. But seriously, this is gonna go one of two ways:
1) This becomes CyberPunk online. Everyone's a cyborg. It becomes MANDATORY in PvP.
2) This becomes CyberPunk online. Everyone's a cyborg. It becomes MANDATORY in PvP. For a week. Or a month. Then we get over it, move on and they never get used again except by us proud and few RP'ers.
It's just so...so...sigh...so disappointing. I haven't even been to the smuggler forums yet, but I can already hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from here because it's going to seem to us like yet another missed opprotunity and therefore a sign that the Devs have NO idea what to do with us criminals. They could have put us to bed happy safe and sound once and for all. Yikes.
Oh yeah...linky linky

There's a couple of threads on the first page...
But yeah...you're pretty much echoing 90% of what the rest of us had to say...

I'm pritty sure LucasArts gives ALL the awnsers as to who gets what when and can say what when. Star Wars IS their franchise. SOE only developes and produces the game.

Yes I know...but it's out now...so where's the Dev announcement? Just seems silly to wait until tomorrow once we've actually heard and read all about it because you KNOW there won't be any new info on it for a month or more, if then.

The DEV Announcement is going to be the big and grand Friday Feature we were all expecting from last week, that turned out to be a bunch of dippy wallpaper pictures... and then everyone said the big Friday Feature Announcement would be coming on the next Friday... or in other words... this Friday.
It is typical SOE style.
And do not expect to see a Smuggler Revamp; because they have been working on Revamping the Classes in Everquest for 6 YEARS NOW, and they STILL can not get them defined and balanced right.
They hype up Class Balancing once or twice every year; then drop the issue and turn around and announce some flashy new Expansion with cool, neato (sarcasm) features that everyone just has to have right away or the game just won't be worth playing anymore (is rolling eyes) .. then the Expansion come out, its bugged, everyone complains... and SOE goes back to the old "Class Balancing" story to keep people happy and thinking that the bugs will get fixed...
Then low and behold another few months goes by and SOE suddenly roles out another flashy Expansion... with yet more flashy features...
Oh and by the way, with each EQ Expansion that gets released, its flashy fancy features are only available to people who buy just that Expansion.
If you've had the original game for years and the previous Expansions, you can't have the cool new features from the new Expansion unless you buy it.
This is usualy things like cool User Interface features, and special new in-game content that though seems it ought to be available to everyone, it isn't.
Most of you guys here playing SWG, are new to SOE's Management style when it comes to running an Game of this scale and have only dealt with SOE through SWG; JTL through just a couple years... while those in Everquest have been dealing with it for 6 years now, through 9 Expansions...
Hope you guys enjoy having a nice wooden Bat jerk up your butts a few times; thats the one thing that SOE excel's at doing best to its customers.

Oh and I suppose I should add that, though I do love Star Wars and I do truly enjoy playing this game...
I sincerely hope that the loyal customers here, don't get the usual SOE/EQ treatment that SOE gives to its EQ players... because their own Management style with that game has nearly all but killed it, though the addition of other games to the market didn't help either.
But; if SOE is going to start treating this game as they do EQ... then my only suggestion is to start begging LucasArts to take over management and production... because SOE is going to continue to produce into the game what they believe is going to make them the most money, and not what you think would make the game more immersive and Star Wars like, and so on.

To add a slightly different perspective on one detail that was mentionned....
Every MMORPG that release boxed Expansions that are sold on the shelves (instead of free expansions, like DAoC housing one) do it so everyone who want the content of it have to buy it. It is not a "evil SOE only" thing.
As for EQ woah, 6 years of being told "it's coming"? Woah I might be patient, but 6 years is a looong time. Geez.

After IGN announced JtL, it took the SWG site a day or two to announce it.
